    Hi
I have just bought a 500gb Deckstar 7K500 SATA11 16mb and according to macupgrades where I purchased it it should be compatible with my 1.8MHz single core G5 PowerMac. I have have put it in it's slot, but it does not show anywhere at all....??? Heeeelp!

So you're saying it's not in Disk Utility? Does it sound like it's spinning up?

Once you get your installer disk loaded, then look in your menu at the top of the screen and you will find the disk utility under one of the columns. Once the disk utility loads, then you should see your drive you need to format. Once formated, then you should see the drive and then install/upgrade the software and etc.
