Hi there,

Up until a few days ago I was using an external hard drive that was working perfectly. I've just tried to mount it on the desktop and it comes up with the error message:
The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer
When I go into disk utility the S.M.A.R.T status reads not supported
I really need to keep the stuff that's on there. Should I go ahead and verify or try and repair the disk through disk utility..?!
Any help or advice much appreciated!

Thanks Aggie...just spoke to someone who advised the same thing...he thinks it's lost the file structure...can you recommend any data recovery software..?

Disk Warrior or Data Rescue III get mentioned on here a lot, but I've never had to use either, thankfully.
