Glad to hear you got a response so quickly--I usually use Super Duper when I'm around and I guess I'll continue to do so--seems my guess was pretty close. :D
 
I take it you didn't see the Universal Binary version of Disk Inventory X?

Any clue why those tools didn't see it, or did you just filter it out in your head because it was in /Volumes?

I assume these tools filter out /Volumes because the only things that should be in there are links to, well, other volumes.

Disk Inventory X appears to still be quite dead after getting a Universal Binary beta but I prefer the interface.

Development seems to have stopped right about the time they released the UB as a beta.

I would have presumed they would do this in the same way as find with the -x option, i.e. don't go there because it is on a different device.

I am interested now. I will take a look at that when I get home but I do seem to remember that the root directory is going to start at the volume you had selected. (e.g. Macintosh HD but not /Volumes/Macintosh HD)
