Hi All,
I've been trying to replace my hard drive by cloning it first but it won't work. I have all my apps on an SSD in the optical bay which is also my startup disk. (Lion and apps are deleted from original Macintosh HD). Mid 2010 macbook pro 6,2

Could I do this....
1) Install Lion on my new HD externally
- confirm that I can boot from here.
- Make this my startup disk
2) Move my files over from internal to external
3) Install the external drive into the macbook pro.
4) Make the SSD the startup disk again.

Thanks!

Wally

sounds like your making it more difficult that needed, if the ssd can be booted from you won't need to install lion on your hard drive which sounds like its just for storing data
