I am about to pick up a 15 inch MBP and i want to trade the existing Hard Drive with a 7200 RPM drive. Are there any known issues in doing this? Anyone have a brand suggestion,.. i was looking at the Seagate Momentus 7200.1 Will this drive work or should i go with the 7200.2? Comments??

Save the cash and go with a Hitachi 5400 RPM 160gig PRM drive. Newegg has them for $139.99.

Would like to know your reasoning on why you would choose the 160GB 5400rpm over the Seagate 100GB 7200rpm for the same price. (Besides the bigger HD) Is it because the 5400 uses less battery consumption? Is the 7200rpm not really that much faster?

Turns out after a 74G file was copies to the 7200 RPM drive, it bogged it down.

Which is pretty much all the free space available on the 100GB. Basing it off the stock 80GB, I had 55GB free. That would leave about 75-80GB free with the Seagate.

Contemplating as to return the Seagate and get the Hitachi or keep the Seagate...
