i would be worried about the HEAT with the 7200... and in most environments (for an average user) there is no difference in speed/performance... i mean, if your using for MS Office, Email, Internet, etc THEN IT'S THE SAME... if you're in a NETWORK Environment where you "share" the drive, then maybe consider the 7200

AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT IS THINK!!! I mean, can you really count nano-seconds in your head... not really!!!

I have upgraded all of my laptops from the 5400 RPM drives they shipped with to a 7200. And everytime the system is more responsive, boots faster and loads apps quicker. I also have to add that there was no difference in temperature. There is no reason to worry... and I'm not sure how you can even say that when you have no experience with a 7200 RPM drive.

i love my seagate momentus 7200rpm 500gb.

it runs smooth, cool, quite, and fast. also i had a hitachi 7k500 before and it made more noise at idle, the temp didnt show up in istat, and the load cycle count was sky rocketing.

iv been very very happy with my seagate i recommend it to anyone. also if you do get a new hard drive i recommend install hdapm to keep your load cycle count down. osx likes to jack load cycle counts and hdapm fixes this keeping your hard drive good for years.

i have instructions that i wrote myself, i took instructions from a few different sites in order to get it to work perfectly and set it to my liking. pm me if you want this.
