What about buying a SEAGATE ST750LX003 MOMENTUS XT 750GB SATA 2.5IN 7200RPM HYBRID 8GB SSD ?

If the interface is 6gpbs and the one of my macbook pro mid 2009 is 3gbps is still compatible?

thanks

It'll work fine.

If you stick to the list you gave earlier, I'd suggest the Hitachi. Well engineered, well-made, and the quietest 7200 RPM drive I've found.

That said, don't be put off the Momentus - Seagate has fixed whatever minimal problems existed, and it's a good drive - just more expensive than I care to spend for an invisible-to-me speed increase.

The improvement is not invisible. Eternal logins with the stock drive were unbearable.

Ok, so I have to decide among these:

Code:
SEAGATE ST9750420AS MOMENTUS 7200.5 750GB SATA 2.5IN 7200RPM 16MB
€ 93 + taxes
*************************************
WESTERN DIGITAL WD7500BPKT SKORPIO BLACK 750GB 16MB SATA3 7200RPM 2.5IN
€ 98 + taxes
*************************************
HITACHI 0J12283 TRAVELSTAR 7K750 750GB SATA 2.5IN 7200RPM HTS727575A9E364
€ 89 + taxes

Which want should I take?

Many thanks

I've been eying the Western Digital WD7500BPKT Scorpio Black 750gb for some time for my 15" 2.4 Ghz i5 MacBook Pro. But the price is in the $200s right now which is pretty high compared to the price before the floods. I thought I'd wait it out but the prices still don't seem to have dropped yet.

Best I can do is $180ish used from Amazon warehouse.

I'm leaning towards the Hitachi Travelstar 750GB SATA II 2.5" Mobile Drive from Tiger Direct's Ebay store: http://compare.ebay.com/like/350517624105?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y . It's $120 there.

I've been using Seagate Momentus XT 500GB 1st generation in the imac for last 4 months and had 0 issue. I do notice frequent used apps load around 1/3 faster than stock hd.

However if you boot into Bootcmap, the SSD cache will be wiped and apps history needs to rebuild again. So Momentus XT is not the best option is you switch between OSX and Bootcamp often.
