I have a 60GB Volume on my 160GB HDD formatted as MS-DOS to work with both windows and mac. But after uninstalling windows I decided to format it to work just with Macs so that I could get more space out of it. But after a few attempts at erasing and formatting I am still stuck with a 60GB volume only giving me 48GB. It is currently in Mac OS Extended format. Now my other Volume which is 100GB gives 99.88 GB in Mac OX Extended(Journaled). Why does my 60GB Volume still require 12 GB when not in the space wasting MS-DOS format? Thanks!

Well remember with any OS...it takes a few gigs for itself to run(OSX being a hog). Do you have anything on the HDD at all?
