I just got a black satin see through case and notices that it closes my laptop much harder when the screen lid goes below 45 degrees. Has anyone else noticed this and do they think it potentially screws up the hinges?

It wouldn't damage the hinges, but it will make the laptop's screen heavier and cause it to shut harder.

The only thing you have to worry about is scratching the occurs with hard shell cases. I'd say not having a case is less damaging in this aspect than having one.
