I am going to give my old HD a second life by using it as an external one. What are you guys experiences in this area? Any favorites? .... Looking between an OWC Mercury Enclosure and Macally. Opinions appreciated....

I think that bytecc cases are the best for the money

I'd get the cheapest thing I could find with an Oxford 911 chipset. When I bought one, it was from PC Microstore (I just found the site through dealmac.com), and I haven't had any problems with the enclosure I ended up getting (though it wasn't the cheapest)

Thats the same bytecc case that I bought. BTW, it is cheaper at newegg.com

Yeah that is pretty cost effective. I just realized that I might need an USB2 + FW in order to use it with my IBM thinkpad

Thanks guys, that was great .... Newegg has zillions! I let you know what I do

Carbon Copy for replication?

Ok I got my Bytecc slimline aluminum firewire/USB2 enclosure from newegg. Works within 10 minutes!! .... Thanks for all the advice.

Now, a program that replicates data to the external drive would be nice. Something that only copies changed files rather than drag-drop everything. Is this what carbon copy does?
