This is my first post, I just bought a new MPB 2.66MHz I’m awaiting delivery, hopefully tomorrow. Can’t wait.
I’m using it mainly for video editing and a bit of GFX work. I managed to get a good deal on it (£1436), but was unable to change the standard spec.

Will the 5400rpm hard drive be ok for video and gfx work? , bit late i know but just though i'd ask.

Also is it a good idea to partition the hard drive, I’ve always done this in the past but a guy in an apple shop told me it wasn’t worth doing?

I've been using an imac with a Radeon x1600 128mb for all of my editing work i'm hoping to see a big improvement with my MPB.

the HDD should be good enough. if its too slow tho you can replace it with a 7200rpm or SSD. it will be cheaper to do it yourself then what you would have had to pay apple. i do a lot of editing in Pro Tools and i keep all my files on an external HDD connected via a FireWire 800.

if you are going to run windows then you will HAVE to partition the drive. but if not i dont really see the point anymore.

and with the 512mb of dedicated RAM on the graphics card you will se a huge difference.
