Look at it this way. If you'd just had a leg amputated, would you want to listen to someone tell you every day how he stubs his toes every morning?

Whether or not I have all of my limbs, I probably don't want to hear about someone's toe stubs everyday. I don't see how the two would be related, except if I were still reeling from the trauma of losing a limb and bitter enough to feel that someone else having toes was somehow an affront to me.
