    Hi everybody,

It took me a while to finally decide on asking for help on MacRumors. I have searched all around the web for what the solution might be but the truth is, I'm not much of a technical guy.

My MacBook pro 15' Late 2010 (2,4 i5 4GB), running on OS version 10.8.4 keeps having kernel panics. It usually happens every time I start it up about 5 times before I get it up and running. After that it shuts down at random, it could be while running heavy video editing software but also while editing a word document. I reinstalled OS and had my drive cleaned but it did not help much (it occurs less often but still way too often) which makes me think it is a hardware problem. I already resituated the RAM which looks fine. I have the log here. I was hoping someone could point me to the source of the malfunction.

It looks like your graphics card is failing. You'll probably have to take it to a Apple service center. It likely needs a main board. I hope it's covered under AppleCare.

It had run through my mind as a worst case scenario. I was hoping it would be something I could easily replace myself such as RAM. Do you know if there is any way to fix or replace the GF card myself. And if not, would you have any idea what the costs would be at a Genius? I am not covered by AppleCare.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea that it could have been a factory defect. I'm running by an apple centre today, I'll hit resolve if they agree with the apple website!
