It's certaintly doesn't deserve prestigious literary awards, but I found them enthralling. Eh, different preferences I guess.

I have read the eragon books but they are really just Star Wars by way of Lord of the Rings, with a dash of Dragon Rider of Parn throw in.

Yup, he's gotten a lot of criticism for taking the plot from Star Wars and having it in a fantasy setting. In either case, I found the first two addictive (even if the second one started out s l o w l y).

yeah i'm looking forward to the movie. i won't see it the first night, but hopefully soon after that. i have read the books, and listened to the audiobooks. i might try and listen to the audiobook again before the movie. we'll see

For people who cannot see themselves re-reading the book before the movie comes out, I would highly recommend you listen the to audiobook performed by Jim Dale. I grew up(born in 1991) listening to those on my 1st generation iPod before going to sleep.

They are as good as the movies in conveying the dialogue.

me too! i actually know like a tun a people who do/did that... only im younger than you

Me and like 10 of my friends are going to the midnight premier. im going to attempt to be like the first person to twitter that the movies started... crap. just realized im in the central time zone, so that isnt going to happen :(:(:(

i grew up with harry potter, my family is kinda a bunch of harry potter geeks, we have all read them all at least 3 times...

this movie seems like it wont be the best, but it will def. be good... only thinking this cuz its only PG tho...

I really would love to see it, however the cinema bugs me so much I probably won't. I hate loud people, inconsiderate people, chavs, the total overpriceyness of the whole ordeal. It would be much cheaper to wait for it to come out on DVD and enjoy it at home with the people I love munchin' on some homemade popcorn :D

Can't wait to see it!
I actually won tickets here in Australia to see a prescreening on July 11 so I can't wait!!

Can't wait to see it! I'm supposed to be going to an advanced screening this Monday, let's hope that doesn't fall through!

Black curtain ?? Hahah me too but in Melb :)

For those of you who want to watch a few of the HP movies, check ABC Family. They are having a Harry Potter weekend in light of the next movie being released.

Thoughts on the new Harry Potter movie

So it's here after a long wait. the latest installment. I was just wondering what everyone thinks of it so far. I saw it at midnight and I must say it was stunning. The best so far. David Yates as director is brilliant. The cinematography is breathtaking. The soundtrack is superb. and the acting is great. While it does depart for the book the movie makers changed only what wouldn't make for a good movie. It was worth the wait and I for one can't wait for number 7 parts 1 and 2. This is truly an amazing movie.

What do you think? And please no one saying how bad Harry Potter is, only people who have seen the movie.

i have read the book but haven't seen the movie yet. and i can't wait for the last movies either. i think when all these movies come out in a boxed set w/ all 8 movies in bluray, im soo getting it!

I'm going to see it in about 8 hours; the missus and I have been really looking forward to it. I can only hope the theater isn't packed full of small annoying children, which is why we opted for the second showing of the day instead of the first.

The thing that really stands out is the cinematography is stunning. It is just beautiful to look at and the acting especially Tom Felton(Draco Malfoy) really stands out. Felton actually makes you feel sorry for his character, of course the adult actors are all amazing with stand out performance by Michael Gambon(Albus Dumbledore) and Alan Rickman(Severus Snape). but as I have said I can't get over how beautiful this movie is. It is a visual treat. A feast for the eyes. also David Yates is going places after he finishes with harry potter.

I always felt sorry for Draco. I couldn't imagine what I would do under those circumstances.

I did not like it. It was boring, gloomy and it was my least favourite book/movie. People thought it was really good, but I never got into it. It was like I was waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever did in the whole time I was sitting there. Time did feel like it was passing VERY slowly!

I'm seeing it after Chemistry today. HBP wasn't that memorable of a book. But I didn't really like Prisoner of Azkaban. In fact, I think Azkaban, Order of the Pheonix and HBP were the slowest.

Spoilers be within... you've been warned!

Best film of the series so far by a wide, wide margin. Visually stunning, funny, adorable, and yet ultimately tragic in an epic way. That said, I did the ending rushed and thus a let down, and the scenes at the Burrow at Christmas time were not true at all the book and added very little imo... I would have rather seen them cut those additions and put some more time into making the ending as epic as it needed to be. In the book the ending was terrifying: the mere idea of Death Eaters inside Hogwarts doing battle with the Order gave me chills - but in the movie that feeling is absent, and even undercut by Bellatrix.

Still, a very good film, but with a little more focus it could have been perfect.

I'm kind of irked that Christian Coulson got shafted. He did fantastically in Chamber of Secrets. I understand it was an age issue, but they could have used him when Tom was applying for the DADA position.

I got the chance to preview it at my local theatre last night. Now, don't get me wrong.. I'm a huge HP fan. I've read all the books countless times, watched all the movies, all that jazz. The movie itself.. was ok. If I hadn't read the book I'd be seriously lost (or would I?). It just disappointed me seeing all the details they had to leave out.
