Naked stage role for Potter star

Radcliffe has starred in four Potter films and is now making a fifth
Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe is to appear on the London stage next year, playing a stable boy who has an erotic relationship with his horses.
Richard Griffiths will co-star in the revival of Peter Shaffer's 1973 play Equus, to open in the capital in March.

Radcliffe and Griffiths are currently shooting the fifth Harry Potter film.

The role will require Radcliffe, 17, to appear naked and symbolically blind six horses. Richard Burton and Peter Firth starred in the 1977 film version.

Firth played disturbed stable boy Alan Strang in the original London stage production and later on Broadway.

Equus will be directed by Thea Sharrock, director of the Gate fringe theatre in Notting Hill, west London.

The controversial play marks a departure for Radcliffe, whose only previous stage appearance in London was as a guest star in The Play What I Wrote, directed by Kenneth Branagh.

He recently completed filming December Boys, an independent Australian film about four orphans growing up in the 1960s.

linkety. anyways, that sounds very strange.

Good for him....now he'll be ready to do a brokeback mountain type movie and get an award or at least Oscar nominated.

Bless

Hmmm....

Yup, definitely:

For some reason, this reminds me of the Sex and the City episode with the guy with the naked stage role. (My gf watches the show all the time (on DVD) )

Ah, the Absolut Hunk™. :p I can never remember his actual name since Samantha almost never did.

So that's how it really is in the Dursley household. No wonder he never wants to go back for the holidays

Did this show ever end definitively? It seems there was a wedding cliffhanger and the series was never renewed.

So THATS how they do it in the UK...

In the US when a Disney-esque film star wants to shed their bubble gum image, they just do a few nude scenes (ex. Anne Hathaway). Perhaps Mr. Radcliffe doesn't think that would be enough. Bring on the horses.

I guess watching this and buying a Disney movie on the same day will get you put on some sort of Federal Watch list.

Isn't that umm....like childporn though? 17 years old?
I think legal is 16 in the UK.

Luck to him, but this could wind up bringing in the wrong crowd.

Well, given that he's co-starring with Uncle Vernon, he must not mind it all that much.... ;)

Just girls? :p ;) just kidding

Well not my cup o' tea but if he really feels the need to escape his role completely and avoid the Harry Potter scene, you can't really argue with the execution. But i ask, why not Rupert Grint!?!? Hot piece that one is :p

oy vey.

It's odd, but I see why he's doing it. He's an actor who has to think about his career. He don't want to known as the guy who played Harry Potter. He's trying to avoid being type casted.

exactly, and there is nothing wrong with that. diversifying himself will keep the jobs coming in.

Uh, yeah, he'll be remembered as the guy who had "erotic relationships" with horses instead.

Oh well, I just hope the rest of the play will really give him a chance to show his (acting) talents.
