I haven't read the link, but I remember we had this in the UK a long time ago, it was all over the news.

Personally, I didn't care what colour my work was marked in. If it said "excellent", I was happy. If it said "If anyone asks, you're not my pupil", not so happy.

thats a great idea. but i can do better

spelling errors = yellow
grammar and format = purple
comments = green
average grade = fuschia
good grade = sparkly fuschia
bad grade = burnt umber
 
I taught for a time and I usually used green or purple ink when I graded papers... it wasn't for the students so much as for me... I find a lot of red ink visually distracting (no idea why, probably some low-level OCD)... and going further back, while in college I worked as a peer writing tutor and using the different inks came in handy when workshopping...
