I have noticed that when my phone is on my magnetic mount with a raised lip case (Spigen tough armor) on that my phone has to be positioned torwards my chest for FaceID to work. If I have my phone angled torwards my face I have to move my face down for FaceID to work.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it FaceID just won’t work with phone angled lower or do you think my lip is affecting it?

I have a spigen liquid crystal case and everything seems to be working fine.

does that have a big of a lip like the tough armor, this is a pretty big lip....Do you have a mount? Its so weird that i have to duck my head down if its not angled at my chest

Don’t know if the lip is as big but there is a lip. Yes I have a spigen mount.

Maybe try rescanning your face from that lower position & see of it improves things.

So setting up FaceID matters for the location of it? I thought it was just for your actual face not where it is compared to cameras.

I rescanned mine from an angle where I'd be frequently looking at it as I take it out of my pocket - pointing it up toward my face from around gut level, to prevent the need to hold it at head height which would slow the whole process down.

I've been happy with it since.

Oh so it worked. Ok gotcha, will try that now. But do you have to do that angle every time then after that?

I setup an alternate appearance with face higher. Seemed to be working at right angle now. Thanks!

Well it must be my case then, I just ordered a caudabe so hopefully it will work better.

Question. If you're so unsure of the cause, why not remove the case and test it? I'd think that would tell you considerably more than strangers online.

Cause then I would have to stick a magnet to back of phone. So ya no thanks..lol

I have a Spigen ultra hybrid and the lip is comparable to the tough armor, no problems with faceid..

And you have a magnet in the car that you mount it with.

No magnetic mount. I thought you were concerned that the lip was causing the problems you were experiencing..

I'm not saying toss the case. I'm saying, remove the case and see if Face ID works better. If it does work better, the case is probably interfering. If it doesn't work any better, you know it's not the case. You can put the case back on as soon as you have an answer. I never said remove it and leave it off permanently. Just take it off long enough to find out if it's the cause of your issues or not.

Ya while it was mounted on my magnet in my car... it had to be angled torwards my chest to log on while mounted
