I did a security update this morning and when my Mac rebooted my monitor wasn't picking up any signal.

I have read about security updates breaking Nvidia drivers, is this what has happened, if so how on earth do I fix it?

I can fix a lot of things but how can I fix or install anything when I can't see anything?

2010 Mac Pro 12 core 2.66
32Gb RAM
Yosemite 10.10.5
Palit GeForce GTX 750 Ti KALMX Silent Fanless

^^^^Yep, you are right:eek: I had a GTX 780 with the "a" chip, and it worked fine on Apple drivers. I know better:oops:

Sorry to ask a very stupid question but what is an EFI graphics card?

EFI stand for Extensible Firmware Interface. It's some extra code on top of the legacy BIOS to give the hardware some extra functions.

On Mac, the EFI is non standard. So, a normal UEFI graphic will perform exactly the same as a card that with just the legacy BIOS. But a graphic card flashed with proper Mac EFI can initialise itself to show boot screen, or provide basic display even without driver support from the OS.

Thanks for all your help guys. When the band I currently have in the studio have lunch I am going to whip the video card out, fit it in my Mac, update the Nvidia driver and hopefully that will solve the problem.

Is there anyone in the UK who does Nvidia Flashing? I don't really fancy sending mt card over to the US and being without it for a couple of weeks.

You're better off selling the card and buying a pre-flashed GTX 680 Mac card off eBay or a new Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB if you want something more modern.

Neither of these cards require web drivers as they use native inbuilt drivers in macOS.
Literally plug and play.
