Yes, really. Not sure what a song and a Jobs keynote address proves.

Almost any phone held in a way to obscure antennas will suffer from degraded reception.

It's still a thing on my iPhone 4 that I use daily if I take off the free case Apple gave me. (without holding it in some obscure crazy way) So no, it isn't a made up media thing.

You bumped a nearly 2 year old post. Why?

I think that was obvious from the OP: He/she wanted to know if it was still an issue.

I didn't say that it was. Talk to Lamar Burton if you need to. I said that it was overblown and hyper-sensationalized.

I had a '4' from day one, and never experienced any antenna/weak signal/drop call issues, no matter how I held the phone. It was black, by the way.

I experienced some issues, but only on bad signal areas and only removing the case, just for a test.
With the case I never had an issue.

All phones do that. That's why we say it was a media made up thing, because they made it all about Apple.

Bridging the gap between the two antenna with something conductive effectively detunes it resulting in a drop in performance.

That said, name some other phones that use an external antenna made of conductive material that is gapped in such a way you can bridge that gap with a finger.

Lol "all phones"

Incredivly old??? Please...
I've seen recent bumps of ten year old threads. 1.5 years ago was start of 2013, just last year.
And that's just to say there really was not point to it, as often is the case with these types of unnecessary thread resurrections.

Um, wrong. The post that bumped this thread had no value.

Don't care if you see others bumping old threads, your purpose was pointless. No excuse for bumping a year and a half old thread. 10 year old posts being bumped? Didn't realize the forum kept messages back that long.

Show me any other phone, that has an antenna, that turns worse than a mortar brick with a touch of a finger.

You're right; I had misread the previous posts' time stamps when I replied to the stupid YouTube link. I should've let it alone.

That being said, Arn/Doctor Q didn't die and make you supreme ruler of MR forums. 18 months isn't an eternity. If resurrecting old/dead threads is so bothersome to you, move on. If this is all it takes to get you hot and bothered, perhaps a recalibration of priorities could be in order.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

People get called out for resurrecting a thread and people get called out for starting a new thread without searching for old threads.

I don't know why people feel the need to comment in either circumstance. I guess it gives them some vague sense of self importance or something.

In some cases things are really resurrected for no reason, like more or less in this case--neither worthy of resurrection or a new thread at this point.

Almost all Metal HTC phones, HTC Desire HD, Sensation, One, have some sort of dropped wireless performance when held. My HTC Inspire would experienced dropped signal when covering the upper left corner of the device and to the extend the upper right corner. For the One, I've heard people complain about lower signal then the Galaxy but not of covering a particular side.

I've personally never had a problem with the HTC phones I've owned aside from them just not having good signal. A crappy radio shouldn't be confused with one that is detuned by physical contact.

Blocking an antennas reception is not detuning an antenna like on the iPhone 4. If you have one test it yourself, enter field test mode, dial *3001#12345#* . Use different things that are more or less conductive to experiment with it.

It's only to be avoided now because it's so old. It's still a really good phone.
My iP4 suffered from Antenna Gate, my iP4S on the same network was just fine. We experienced the same thing with dozens of iP4 models at work.

I'm going to use my iP5S another year while Apple works out the inevitable problems with iPhone 6, the 6S will be worth buying. It's been like that year after year, an Apple tradition.

Especially since I want the 64GB version of the 5.5" model which according to today's rumors out of India, will sell for about $1200. USD Just the price I expected from Apple. Rather high priced but Apple must get their 40% or so. Bragging rights are a high priority for them, and the Apple Faithful.
