Gizmodo, The Verge among others made fun of charging the Pencil via the iPP (even though it does come with an adapter). One of the memes was how easy it would be to break the Pencil charging via iPP. So have any Pencil owners here broken their pencil charging it that way? I'll admit my adapter is still in the box, I've never used it. It's much more convenient to plug into iPP when it needs some juice. the cap lays perfectly on the magnetic part of the bezel so I never worry about losing it. I think the complaints about Pencil charging were totally overblown.

You know someone will claim it broke in the port and then there will be "pencil gate". In truth anything can happen. My friend got a brand new 6s+ not even a week old. Over the weekend it slipped from his hand, hitting the floor on the corner and cracking the glass. He was going to get a case but broke it first. My wife dropped my iPad on the cement on the corner with a case, cracking the screen.

I purchased the Pencil on launch day (received it a week later) and have used it almost every day since. I've charged it via the adapter as well as the Lightning port without any issues. So far, knock on wood, the Pencil is going strong and operating at the same efficiency as when I first got it. I'm very happy with this product.

I've seen a couple people here who've posted that they've broken theirs by bending it back while charging in their iPads, though for each I recall the situation being somewhat unusual (like someone's kid jumping in their lap while it had the Pencil attached).

I suspect the number of broken Pencils due to anything other than a forceful impact (apt to break something no matter what) is pretty low.

The tip of mine (gold part inside included) was slightly askew from nothing over than being carrier in a pen-sleeve in a backpack. Luckily it was within in the 14 day return period, I explained the issue, and got a new one. Now I carry it in the box, which feels dorky...
