Hey everyone, I just had a quick question. Has anyone considered whether the iPhone could be used to connect a laptop via EDGE? Cingular states that EDGE enabled phones with Bluetooth can be used to connect a computer to the internet without WiFi. So in my mind, this means that anywhere there is an EDGE network, your Mac (or PC) can be online without the need for an ethernet or WiFi connection. Just my thoughts, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Works fine via my Nokia phone and EDGE. I'd assume it'd work with the iPhone... but would probably require a more expensive plan from Cingular, as phones can tell when they're being used as modems, and so can the carrier.

As far as I know, EDGE is no longer in use, but you could probably use a 4g or 5g connection to achieve the same
