I have volunteered for six years at my local hospital in Pathology (where i want to become a pathologist later on)
It has been a wonderful experience (i am not as much helping many people, just the people that work there)
I have had the chance to process specimens (cut, measure, weigh, etc. etc.)
I have also assisted in two full autopsies.
I will say the hardest part is getting the ribcage off.
Smell isn't as bad as you would think.
Most interesting part was being able to slice the brain into cross-sections and how easy it was to cut (think loaf of bread)
