right im currently deciding between the new macbook and the basic macbook pro

the macbook has a 250GB HD, at 689 UK pounds

the pro has 160GB HD, at 779 UK pounds

(HE discount)

reckon if i went on the phone/instore i could haggle a 250GB HD on the Pro for free? if i made it adamant that i would only buy if so?

thanks

I can't see them biting for that. If that's the only thing that matters to you I'd just buy a bigger HD and get them to fit it for you - laptop drives are really cheap these days anyway. I got a 320gb WD for £35 yesterday, and that's bigger than both MacBooks have. Admittedly it was only 5400rpm, but that's all you'd be getting anyway.

I work for apple.

we are allowed a lot of leeway after you make your purchase (ie on repairs etc etc), but we do not 'haggle' on purchase prices.

why on earth would you ever think that was possible

A friend of mine haggled over the phone with apple and got £250 off his 15" macbook pro.

So you might be able to get the hard drive for free if you try very hard :)
