Currently running the iOS 26.2 beta and was able to add my passport to the wallet app. Has anyone tried it at the airport and worked?

Went to LGA & DCA on Thursday and both times the reader gave me an error. The TSA agent said it usually works. So I'm thinking it was my digital ID that wasn't working and not the scanner. Tried it at DCA as well and same thing.

I know it's a beta so wasn't surprised that it didn't work. Maybe the readers are only available to read the digital state IDs as of now until iOS 26.2 is released to the public. Anyone else have the same/or different experience?

No. I tried to use it at the Apple Store. They ask for physical ID when picking up a device that has been repaired. The Apple Specialists’ iPhone kept getting an error when scanning my Digital ID. They said it normally works for with the digital drivers license. I ended up getting an exception and they just looked at the Digital ID details (your name, DOB, and photo is visible by tapping i icon).
I’ll try at an airport next week. The irony is that Touchless ID is also available at the same airport – no device necessary.

But with Touchless ID one must carry their face on the whole trip. 🙂

On a recent trip had my iphone ready but they asked me to step up to the tablet camera for a second and instant approval. No opportunity to use the iphone.

There are prerequisites. Of course a TSA PreCheck member with a valid KTN. Also a copy of one's valid US passport (not drivers license) uploaded to a participating airline such as Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest, and United that represent roughly 75% of US passengers. It must be uploaded to the specific airline you are flying that day - they don't share across airlines and there is no central upload place shared by the participating airlines. And it must be available at the airports that are participating, which apparently is all the airports that recognize iPhone drivers licenses, i.e., most major airports.

The odd part is that this TSA program requires upload to the airline while the Trusted Traveler (formerly GOES) immigration process does not require upload to the airline. They alread have their own copy. Perhaps it's because immigration has no need to know what flight you arrived on? Yet, they don't share it with TSA but instead require the airline upload.

So, this is terrific for somebody who is a frequent flyer on a limited number of participating airlines.
