16GB/ 1TB. I use heavy chrome apps everywhere and runs well. Upgraded from 15" late 2013 rMBP same spec.

or buyers remorse on the 256gb ssd? I haven't spec'd that low in a long time. I am a little worried. :D
I do.
Daily I get a popup saying "your system has exceeded application memory" and a call to Apple resulted in them saying "not sure what's up, we've taken notes to send to engineers...we recommend getting an MBA with more memory for now".
So thats what I did. New one on order (16gb/512gb MBA M1) and trying on the other now as I await its arrival (they're backordered it appears).

What are you running when you get the memory warning?

Was nervous at first but have had no issues with the 8! Maybe initially w outlook but that quickly resolved (indexing?). Stellar computer especially for the $$

Safari.
Seriously, thats it.
About 10-12 tabs at any given time. When reviewing with the Apple Tech over screen share, we noted that Safari was using up to 40gb of space! Apple tech had no real solutions. Said they will escalate, note and send to engineers and recommended I get a system with more memory for now.

I usually always get 16GB RAM on my machines but after reading and watching reviews of the M1 with 8 GB, I opted for it.. I am very surprised at how well it's doing with 8..

I think for most people 8GB of RAM is more than enough with the M1 chip as it appears to handle resources very well...

I think if your workflow requires 16gb of RAM you should go for the Pro because of the fan....if you need to keep that many apps running or processes that require 16gb I think most likely you will be pushing the system and the MBP will be able to handle that load a bit better.
