Just ring the dealership and make sure they clear away all the old people ready for your grand arrival, problem solved. Corona only affects old people, right?

Yeah one of my friends was telling me that. If you’re young hopefully you’ll be OK

Plus, I don’t know a single young person who has it. Not one!!

Yeah, I don't know of anyone, regardless of age, who plays golf who's had it - must not effect golfers. Oh, and nobody who drives a silver car! Must not affect people who drive silver cars!

I am definitely hanging out with some silver car driving golfers next week.

Why take the risk when you already have a car??

Exactly. And why bother when said car is already a fairly current model?

That’s what I’m saying. So unless they can come up with a solution I don’t want it.

The only reason why I’m getting it is because it’s a fully loaded HSE, got some sweet wheels on it, and the price is literally DIRT CHEAP.

it’s easily 20K less than it should be.

And I would love to drive it lol. Truly a dream car.

But not worth it if they can’t come up with a way to sell it to me SAFELY

Are you for real? Groceries are necessary to survive, or do you have someone feed you with a spoon? As for friends, you should be more concerned about their safety and well being. Its obvious you don‘t give a sh*t about them. Nice.

Your priorities are effed up big time.

So, you were all tested? Look up “asymptomatic”.

Cars can be replaced but your friends cannot.

You can’t replace a group friends at the bar with anything.

There’s no replacement for that.

same with your girlfriend. You can’t replace your girlfriend unless it’s another girlfriend, and that’s it.

But cars are different. You don’t NEED a new car if you have a car right now that works.

The Range can be “replaced” by the car I drive now

And you can get groceries delivered. You don’t have to go

OR

just get door Dash.

If you’re on a diet, like me, then food isn’t even a thing right now.

As far as testing, I don’t think any of them have been tested except one bc her parents made her lol. She was negative thank God

Who cares who said it’s ok? You have to use common sense in these situations
You do. You've repeatedly made it clear you trust what your governor says. And told us all he has experts advising him and will follow his advice.

So if he's opened somewhere up, your most trusted source must surely have used their common sense before doing so.

Yes I totally trust our governor who has many experts involved but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be smart about your choices and use common sense

So a car dealership should observe all possible precautions to keep you safe from Covid-19 while they deal you a bargain on a luxury car that you don't need and merely want to have if they'll deliver it, because it's a good deal?

...but at the same time you should be able to do whatever you like at bars and parties, now that your state is supposedly lifting constraints on individual behavior during the time of the coronavirus? This despite the fact that Covid-19 can be experienced without symptoms while shedding the virus and so potentially infecting others.

(I would ordinarily call such a combination of views rather selfish but I have a feeling I should pass on that, so I will).

Do you think other people at those bars and parties will all take care to ensure they don't infect you?

What? It’s pretty straightforward.

Car = not necessary

Friends/gf/fun = necessary (for me personally)

I don’t know how old y’all are but I’m guessing not very young. Maybe that’s why the disconnect.

Please pay more attention to the facts about Covid-19.

It's possible to have it without knowing it.

It's also possible to die of it if young. About 40% of deaths so far are people 20-54 years old.

Some young people may be predisposed to experience a more difficult course of the illness than others, and scientists are still gathering data about why that is... so to be able to warn people about possible vulnerabilities unrelated to age. Some of the reasons appear to be related to individual immune responses, so it's unknowable at present whether one's body will overreact to the virus and attack the body's other cells and organs.

It's certainly possible to pass Covid-19 on to another human being regardless of age if you happen to have been infected and are shedding the virus --whether from a hospital bed or at a bar or in an office or grocery store. This coronavirus is very contagious completely aside from its severity or lethality.

So if you are out and about, and not taking precautions (social distancing, wearing a mask, not touching face before washing hands etc) while happening to be infected already, you can potentially infect other people, regardless of your or their age.

And, they can potentially infect you.

It's really all about priorities.

For me, my social life is a must.

As far as buying a new car, I drive a 2019 LX with less 5,000 miles so I definitely don't NEED a new car.

I just want it because I'm getting a great deal

And this is why you'll quite possibly end up being poor. There's a reason that the adage "A fool and his money are easily parted" is so true.

Because keeping his current vehicle would prevent him from having another go and reminding us all just how rich he thinks he is.

Funny, when you look at well off people, the braggers are usually the ones you least want to associate with.

@Hieveryone is too young and wealthy to get infected by Covid. It's only us old proletariat that get it...

I had a used car delivered to me before. A phone call to get insurance and I was well on my way.

Sure, and why not? But the OP wants his new bargain luxury ride delivered with a guarantee he's not gonna get a potentially lethal virus off the receipt --along with the car keys they leave under the floormat after they honk the horn to advise him of the delivery and disappear back into the outer world of the free, the brave and the foolhardy.

Never mind that it's likely far more dangerous to pop in and out of parties and bars, rather than to walk into a dealership prepared to transact using social distancing.

It's not like the OP is their only potential customer, and they're not in business to commit suicide anyway, ya think? I mean they want to live too -- not least so they can conduct other transactions besides just the one that @Hieveryone thinks he's interested in making.

I spoke to insurance the other day about it, the guy was no good so I had to speak to a manager. It wasn't his fault though, he was just reading what was on his computer, albeit still kind of annoying.

@LizKat I didn't think about the paperwork having it on there, but that would just be in the glove box I imagine bc I should be able to e-sign everything. My plan would be just to let the car sit for a few days, don't even open it.

Honestly I'm a little sketched out the more I think and talk about it. Its probably not worth buying for more reasons than one. More of an impulse buy bc of the discount rather than something I've spent time thinking about. But I'll be speaking to the dealer in a few hours, and I'll just go from there. I know they're desperate for a sale, which isn't their fault. We're living in strange times.

I tried ordering a new car through Carvana this week but was told my bank statements do not show what I made last year. I ended up just going to the dealer on Thursday and buying a new car directly there.

I had filled out the credit app online so that was one less document that I had to fill out. Half of the paperwork was signed on an iPad and the rest were physical pieces of paper. The entire process, the salesman and I were separated by a plexiglass shield on the desk. When signing the paperwork in finance, we were also separated by the plexiglass in the middle of the desk. He passed the iPad through a small cutout at the bottom. I was even given a fresh pen that was wrapped in a cloth sheath.

In the past when I test drove every vehicle I ever purchased, the salesman accompanied me but this time, I was able to take the car by myself and take my time and go wherever I wanted to test the car.

This was probably the most pleasant experience I ever had buying a new car.

Also, the dealership didn't ask for proof of income. I assume when they saw on the application, I had written that I worked at the same place for 26 years, that was good enough for anyone. I would go through this entire process again with no worries just like what happened Thursday. Great experience.

I mentioned this before in the ‘Car thread‘, but I purchased a 18’ Charger Scat Pack last year, and I was discussing with one of the sales managers of car ‘delivery services’ and he mentioned he was worried that Carvana actually will affect dealerships sales long-term. I kind of laughed at Carvana and made the comment it was gimmicky, but he was serious and said that this probably is the future of car buying, where dealerships ultimately will be phased out in terms of buying direct.

Fast forward to where we stand today as an economy, Carvana is flourishing because of the ‘contactless drop off’ due to C/19. And I think you have those who don’t want to venture to dealerships to avoid contact with people due to ‘social distancing‘ and other considerations, and now when you consider buying a car online, there are some consumers who have no interest in actually test driving, when Carvana has a ‘7- day-return’ period.

So in hindsight, I think that sales manager was absolutely correct, Carvana will supersede some dealerships, [not all of them,] but dealerships will be affected from buying cars online, because C/19 is forcing more consumers to go digital with purchasing on the Internet being contactless. More than ever, we are now living in a digital world, and Carvana is just one example of this new era. And they’ve been pushing their marketing extensively on the radio/TV during the pandemic, which I’m assuming, they’re benefiting heavily.
