I traded in my Apple Watch S0 to them with a quote for $50. It was working just fine before I traded it in. Unpaired it, wiped it and sent it off. Today I get a revised quote for $0 because they said it doesn't power on or off. Now I don't know what the heck happened but I'm at a loss for words because I know for a fact it powered on and off before I sent it in. I'm not getting any help from them because they said their technicians inspect it carefully. Apple themselves can't do much since Brightstar is a third party company. I have the option to reject the quote and have it sent back, and it's going to really make me mad if I do that and it powers on just fine for me. Has anyone had any issues like this at all?

When They send it back to you, make sure you inspect it thoroughly to make sure it’s not damaged from the carrier. Also, make sure it’s fully charged and then try to power it back on, if it powers on, take a video of showing its active with the serial number and you can send that video to Apple indicating that it does in fact power on versus what they were telling you. Otherwise, that’s the first time I have heard from anyone sending in their Apple Watch for trade-in.

The company that Apple uses for trade in is Brightstar and they don’t seem to be very helpful. Pretty much told even if I got it to power on that I can’t trade it in again and that they have trained technicians that inspect the device so their word is final. I spoke to apple support last night and they said they can’t do much because that’s a third party company and it’s got separate rules, etc on how they do things and there isn’t much they can do either.

I guess my thing is if I did get it back and it worked, I could trade it in elsewhere but most places want the band with it and I don’t want to do that.

Maybe file a claim with the company that shipped the watch. Possible it could have been damaged in transit.

Honestly, for $50, then I would just part ways with the whole trade-in program and find another means of selling it. It’s not like it’s a substantial amount of money as it is. But still, highly questionable why would not power on for them, but it does for you, as I mentioned before, perhaps it was damaged during transport or somehow the battery has some random issue that you’re not aware of.

I haven’t personally, but some reviews state your exact issue. Working unit, then not working when they get it. I traded a watch in, S0, and no issues a few weeks ago.

Also, Best Buy did have a trade in Offered in the past for Apple Watches. Not sure if its still offered or not.

The rates offered by bright star seem quite stingy. Not to mention I key in the imei numbers for my iPhone 6S+ and it shows an iPhone 6+. Check the quotation for my iPad Pro 9.7” and the device shows an iPad Air 2. No idea if my quote has been affected because of that, but either way, I don’t see myself taking them up on their offers.

Buy a third party band and you will probably double your return selling it private anyway.

You could easily sell it for 50 bucks on Offerup or Facebook marketplace ..

True, but I don’t trust people nowadays.. would rather sell it on those sites that are credible and don’t have to worry about it

Yeah, you’re right about that. Only reason why I did this was because my S0 was about to be 3 years old, and I figured $50 is better than nothing since I”m surprised they’re still taking it for trade in.

That member you quoted suggested Facebook marketplace as an option, you essentially _List_ It directly on Facebook marketplace, as you don’t have to ship out to the buyer or expect to receive a Pay Pal payment, ect. You meet the individual person who will then give you cash for your Apple Watch. It’s not a site like eBay, Swappa or Offer-Up.

Also, you can also sell on the MacRumors marketplace form as well as an option.

I just sent in my 5c and they quoted me a price of $0. The phone was working fine and everything was good. They said the screen was bad which is wasn't. I'm mad now that I didn't check their rating before sending it in.

ugh what was I thinking

I've sold and Apple Watch through Facebook and worked great! Just met the person in an Apple Store and went smoothly.

I had a Series 0 in perfect condition and got a $75 credit toward the purchase of my ceramic at the Apple Store last evening. (They credited the card I used to purchase the ceramic.) BTW, on the series 0 the serial number is on the back of the watch, so I would have them send it back to you.

All the Apple Watch serial numbers are on the back of the watch(surrounding the heart Rate sensor), also indicating the model.

I don't know about series 1 and 2 but 3 is in the "valley" where the watch lug goes. The rep at Apple showed this to me when I was in there a couple days ago.

This is not at all correct.

On my Series 2 the serial number is found where you describe it. I have to remove the band to find the serial number.

If you want to be technical, you're _not_ correct either. (Reference the Bolded). I was somewhat correct, However to Clarify the differences for other readers; the first Gen have the serial number on the back. Apple re-located the serial numbers with Series 2 and Series 3.

Example of Series 1.

It's okay to admit you are incorrect every once in a while. You are not the all-knowing person you think you are. Case in point, that picture (that you now deleted, because you were incorrect) is a first generation Apple Watch, not a Series 1. From Series 1 through present, the serial number is in the band slot. Considering what you stated above was not accurate either. But its semantics at this point. But my original post should not have indicated ‘all’, Even though that’s what you originally said the same thing, so we were both incorrect.

That’s a first Generation watch indicated, not a Series 1, they are not Mutually exclusive. First Gens only had the serial numbers printed on the back. They were moved because they couldn’t incorporate enough room based on the other identifying features.

I know it was a first generation Apple Watch you posted, but you (incorrectly) identified it as a Series 1 in your post.
