Now you're not going?

I think the bus is OK. Again, I've done long busrides before. Just take overnight buses if possible. Even if it's not possible, bring snacks, an iPod, a laptop, or watch the on-bus movie(s) if they have a TV.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Sounds like a good way to find out. ;)

Just bring a backpack, don't check your luggage in the storage compartment underneath the bus, and don't make direct eye contact with strangers.

I suppose if you're the kind of person who can sleep through anything, the bus would be okay. Not for me, though. My one long Greyhound trip, back in my college days, was a miserable experience. One thing for sure, it's a lesson in the way the other half lives.

I cant stand a bus ride, i went from Amsterdam to Paris on a train which in total with the stop in Brussels took around 5 hours. It was fun, you can walk around unlike the bus.

There are worse ways to travel. I did SF to Seattle once. I didn't realize that a reservation just meant that you had the right to hope for a seat. I was supposed to take a 12 hour ride (give or take), but the bus was full for the first leg (SF to Sacramento), so I ended up on the next bus. Well, it was a local instead of an express. So, I rolled into Seattle 24 hours later.

I wasn't happy with the ride, but I was visiting a close friend that I really missed and so it was worth it. Deciding if Greyhound is worth it - I guess it all depends on the reason for your trip.

It was mainly just to got to a party and I can party here without enduring two 15 hour unpleasant bus rides and a loss of $166.

I used to take a bus in college (70's) for probably 15 hours, but haven't been on one in years. I would really love to try it again, but it may well be because of rose-colored glasses. Things like that happen when you're old(er).

i ve taken a bus many times from Toronto to New York city, I still prefer a plane, but i could not afford it. i still love bus trips, and plane trips, if you have a friend to go with i love bus trips so much i dunno why i just really really love it. then again, more than 15 hours its pushing it a little bit i think if anything that's the most I'd want to be in a bus for. If you have never done it then I say go for it. It is a good experience to have, imo, even if i the end you htink it was a bad one.

I took an 8 hour trip from San Francisco to Reno Nevada and it was awful, I am like 5 10' (180-cm) and I couldn't fit on the seats the trip itself was ok but the old buses are a nightmare

I've taken more long rides on greyhound buses than I care to remember.

I long ago decided that I would never again do it.
