In have a a M3 Pro with 12 cores CPU and 18 GPU with 18GB and a 1TB. This has been a workhorse being used nearly every day since purchase in week one post launch.
I am considering the M5 with 18 CPU and 20 GPU and a 2 TB SSD. I guess I am looking for opinions from people who have made a similar move, with the new specs provide a difference in performance. Where the M3 is struggling is Astrophotography where I use a program called siril to combine thousands of files into one. The fans come on (Very loud) and the time to complete can be 30 mins. In addition the 1TB hard drive limits the ability of siril to process the files as it needs lots of disk space to do so and I have to offload files onto an external drive repeatedly.
Apart from that the M3 is technically perfect.
