My father passed away a couple years ago, and left me his two iPhones. I don't really care about unlocking the phones, but I would like to get the photos that were backed up to iCloud. My understanding is the only way I can do this is

The catch is: I live in the United States, and the Apple IDs his phones were associated with are Canadian.

I spoke with a representative in the US, and they said in order to transfer control of the Apple IDs I would need to obtain a court order and also provide a copy of the death certificate.

Is the process the same in Canada? The executors of his estate are in Canada, and I can have them do this for me, I just want to make sure the process is the same.
