The 6-core or 8-core models. Are you having any issues?

Strongly considering a refurb 2019 MBP. Only hesitation I have is that the last time I got a refurb it was last year with the 2018 model. It thermal throttled badly and I ended up returning it.

I've always bought refurbs from Apple. Never had a problem with them. And if you do, just send it back and get another one. They pay shipping both ways. Easy peasy. Apple refurbs are great!!

Currently have an 8 core refurb I picked up about 1.5 weeks ago. Unit looks and operates perfectly. 1 cycle on battery.

Most likely returning because I just can’t get over the keyboard. Coming from a late 2013 13” and the clicky nature of the keys and the pressure I type with are hurting my hands. Making final decision over the weekend.

But the quality of the laptop is second to none.

Got the returb. Love it so far.

My only criticism is how they got rid of the Apple logo light. I know they changed screen types but I just wish they found a way to keep the logo light. It’s so iconic and set MacBooks Apart form other computers.

I remember going from a 2015 with the god keyboard to the 2017, and it was absolutely god awful. I stuck it out because I needed the extra HP of the 2017 at the time.

On my 2019 it's SOOOO MUCH BETTER. Give yourself time. Also, if you work at a desk any more than 40-50% of the time, get the new Magic Keyboard. Those still use the old mechanism, and it will feel great. I got the space gray mouse and keyboard to match the space gray of my machine, and it feels like I'm using my 2015 all over again

I have an 8-core and it's a perfect laptop after having 2016 and 2018 15" models.
Don't 6 and 8 core ones heat badly in this thin case?
A year ago I tried a 6 core and it was so hot that I returned it immediately.

I need to buy a 15" for light tasks and need to decide what to get (refurb is fine with). What would you guys suggest?

I have quite a bit of typing to do this weekend, so I am going to work with it and see how it is. I love the machine otherwise, just the keyboard. Interestingly I've done several typing tests and I don't see a difference in speed or accuracy between the late 2013 and the mid-2019.

I estimate at least 50% of my usage will be using the built in keyboard so comfort with it is a big deal.

I have the 8 core and have not noticed heat in the slightest. Then again I also use mine for light tasks and it is overkill. The fan has come on a few times (particularly when I first got it and it was indexing) but since then it's been quiet and cool.

When I bought this one they were running a refurb sale on the 8 core models and this one was marginally more expensive than the 6 core with the lower GPU. I really wanted 512GB SSD and the since the price difference was negligible I figured I would go with the 8 core.

I'm currently exporting a 4K video on my lap on battery power and it's not hot at all on me.
