Has anyone tested their AirPods with Apple TV 4?

I was wondering how the experience is with Apple TV. Do the AirPods switch automatically, or do we need to go into the Bluetooth settings to pair them?
 
I haven't tried and truthfully never will but I heard they do work but you have to go into the settings to choose the device to pair with.
