I've just ordered a Synology DS1817+ 8 bay NAS for backing up video/photos with client data, and looking to connect to it via Ethernet from my 2016 MacBook Pro.

Looking to find out if anyone has used the StarTech USB to Dual Gigabit Ethernet Adaptor?

This one: https://www.startech.com/au/Network...pters/usb-c-dual-gigabit-adapter~US1GC301AU2R

There's a surprising lack of reviews out there.

The idea of a dual gigabit adaptor supporting link aggregation is very appealing when the DS1817+ supports four port link aggregation too.

I'll be honest in that I was wondering the same late last week, what with the sole review on our own Amazon site showing 5 stars and the review "Does the job". Gah!

I'm buying a few, based on my own experience with Startech's cables and adapters - they're one of the few component manufacturers I've encountered that bothers to go through compliance certification of their products, offers at least a 2-year warranty, and provides decent customer service. That adapter's cited "Up to 4K Jumbo Frame support" is what sells me, and I've only had to return one of their products - due to a shipper's bungle, not Startech's.

Yeah useless reviews.

Got a response from Startech though - their adaptor doesn't support link aggregation, even though macOS does.

I've ordered the Belkin adaptor, but I am keen to see how the link aggregation works exactly then maybe multiple Belkin adaptors or similar.

Thanks for the tip on the feedback from Startech, I'll hold off on ordering. If you don't mind, post some feedback on the Belkin adapter? I'm interested in what you find - thanks, in advance! Cheers!

Hey @campyguy - the Belkin adaptor has arrived now, and it's fine, seems to just work. It's connected to the back of one of my 5k displays, no issues.

Unfortunately can't seem to bond the two adaptors - a Thunderbolt Ethernet adaptor (with TB3 to TB2 adaptor) and the Belkin. The rest is all good.

I have used 1 or 2 StarTech accessories, and they're generally cheap Chinese plastic. If it were up to me, I wouldn't order any more of them.

YMMV
