I just got my iphone 5s over a month and i got a business trip to go Asia Next Month. I have 8 Lines with AT&T and only request 1 phone to be unlock. I have tried 3 times over chat to make an exception for temp unlock, all got turn down.. Anyone has a success story about it?

forget about 3rd party unlocks. too crazy pricy...

Yup got my 5S and 2 iPhone 5 unlocked through AT&T. All 3 still under contract.

how did you get it through? I tried calling them and they said it's a strict policy and turned me down again....

Any pointers on how you made the successful request to get an in-contract phone unlocked?

does swiftunlocks not work any more? I just used them less than a month ago to unlock my gf's in contract iPhone 5. worked flawlessly for like 10 bucks I think.

Nope. All AT&T 3rd party imei sellers seem to be down.
Some are charging up to $100 per unlock now and the wait is 7 days and most of them are unsuccessful and just refund your money.
AT&T became real strict lately and is trying to put an end to those 3rd party unlockers.

aaah I see. Well that really sucks, and here I was thinking I was going to easily get my 5S unlocked. Thanks for the info.

Gotta keep trying and hope you get a nice and helpful rep.
Some wont even try at all and will stick to company policy while others will try to help you and bend their own rules.

I know there are different c/s reps for premier and non-premier accounts. I wonder if premier reps are stricter. I have never been successful on getting a phone under contract unlocked.

He's tried 3 times with chat already.

doesn't matter, it's better than phone.

2 years ago I did get the official AT&T unlock the first month the 4S was out. There are only certain people that they can bypass the 2 year rule for unlock like military personnel on duty, etc.

I did this with my 4s back when it came out.. I'll try again with my 5s :) just need to figure out where the live chat is lol

1. Tell them you are leaving for military purposes
2. Keep calling till you get someone nice
3. Ask to speak to someone higher in the chain
4. repeat step 2

Well I maybe answering this a year too late but just would like to put my input on the topic for future people.

So all day I've been doing research on how to unlock my old iPhone so my bf can upgrade to a better phone than he has right now. Plus we would like to be able to FaceTime one another while we are off to college.
Anyways, I called the 1-800 number for my carrier, which is AT&T, asking if they can unlock my phone. They told me I couldn't because my contract wasn't up and I had til December 4 of this year!!! I was like you gotta be kidding me. So I looked to see if there was a way somehow to still do it. I found that filling out the "form online" was the best idea because literally after I sent in my information into AT&T, I got a email back within minutes saying my request was approved and that I can go on unlocking my old iPhone, EVEN THOUGH I was still under contract.

So here I am right now with the whole process completed and ready to be sent off on it's way!

Hope this helped a little if not a lot!!

Thank you!

Thanks for your sharing. I tried to fill the form online, however, they refused the request because I am under contract and must complete the contract period first.

How do you fill the form?
