2. Dan, the guy I spoke to, freely admits he is a small home-based business and is not scamming anyone on this forum. I also Googled around to see if they were doing anything sneaky elsewhere and found nothing.

Where is the "state-of-the-art cleanroom facility" as mentioned on his website?

i dont see the big deal of someone working out of their home for a professional business?
I have had plenty of friends whom have their own repair service that do on-site and off-site work.
I know a great business that operates out of their condo that has retail space beneath their living quarters, so i dont see how its a huge deal honestly.
What about farmers? lol...if you guys even think beyond that...i dont get how alot of you on here get so insane over the stupidest things, esp if its not directly Apple.

Yeah .. some members here were just too rude on this thread. I saw ChargedPC thread, I saw the tutorial, and it´s quite good tutorial.

How many people out there, who actually do repair/installation service, but revealing their method to the public, for free? Yeah maybe not all the method, but quite there to complete it yourself, like installing SSD inside your iMac.

Please, if you don´t feel trusty about their service, people who lives near / in NY can just go there and pick your own iMac there, observe their HQ, or even you may wait the process done. I think installing SSD inside would just take around 1 hour or so.

Their web has professional look, their tutor has clean explanation and they made it them self. I would trust them with iMac, because they really can do it. But I would trust with the one that has no more warranty. Because use iMac which still under warranty/care would mess up if something happens, maybe not from the modified SSD (not from ChargedPC fault service), it could be something else, and if Apple found out that this iMac has been torn down by unauthorized personnel, well .. apple has every right in the world to void your claim.

I'm not sure why there is so much skepticism. Did you know that Dell started in a dorm room? There are many many companies out there that started out in a garage, in a basement, etc. It seems that a lot of effort has been made by ChargedPC to set up a website, establish a business presence, and share an awesome tutorial for upgrading your own iMac.

I went with them. My iMac will arrive there in a couple of days. A few days later, I will have an iMac with a professionally installed Vertex 3. And I will be a happy camper.

Could I have done it myself? Yes! But I chose to go with a pro, and I am sure that they won't disappoint me. They have my confidence.

I think there are some pretty rude comments posted here..
It's not rude to be skeptical of a start-up business. It's wise to be cautious.

Skepticism is healthy. It protects people from falling for scams, which the internet is infested with.

It's not a "big deal". It's up to each consumer to decide if they want to risk doing business with a start-up or home-based business. It's one of the challenges that any start-up faces. The strong survive that stage and prosper; the weak don't. It's free enterprise.

It's starting to sound like a liberal/conservative debate around here....:(

I for one am grateful the photo was posted. Anyone who advertises as a store that updates iMacs but instead the iMacs are sent to their home and most likely you won't see it again. To the person who posted the photo thank you fir keeping us from getting SCAMMED

Hey i Rob (interesting name that speculates about robbing) you have rather negative and uninformed assumptions there mate.

I personally know numerous Apple consultants and service techs in Australia that were Apple Authorised for between 15-20 years and in the past year were deauthorised for NO STATED REASON! These guys are far above Apple Genius's ......yeah like the Big Bang guys they laugh at them. Guess where they now operate their business from? Yeah you guessed it...... most of them now use home offices and work benches.

There is no point for them to join even the Apple consultants network, which is a joke to all experienced consultants, because then they have to sign that they will NOT sell Apple hardware and to refer the business to the Apple channel who would then supply standard Apple upgrades that are rubbish like 1 year warranty ram & slow 1 year warranty HD's and they would receive no cut from sales of Macs that they sell and recommend!

Seems to me that ChargedPC are offering a great service to your country in the absence of other intelligent upgrades! :)
