Thank you folks for posting your personal findings. Empirically speaking, it would seem that SSD degradation is less of a problem with OSX.

Yup hahaha, I don't really care about why or how it doesn't degrade, but the most important thing is that it doesn't degrade, and this thread has been very successful in proving it. Thanks for posting!

LOL --- ahhhhh print media liberties... the original statement was:

"I know for a fact, without needing evidence, that my SSD will long outlive any platter based hard drive."

I think, lifespan wise, its the other way round.

1st gen X25-M since August 21th 2009 in my 13" MBP and no trouble or drop in performance! I got mine when the 2nd gen was released and had a firmware trouble. The 1st gen were on clearance on newegg.ca! Doesn't support TRIM but MacOS X doesn't either, so... it's not much a problem. Just decided to get a 2nd gen X25-M for my Windows 7/Linux desktop computer!

So TRIM or no TRIM it doesn't really matter anyway... Maybe its nothing to do with OS X.

My Xbench test scores didn't show any appreciable difference over the last several months. I suspect that most SSD's that do garbage collection in the background will behave in the similar way.

i've had an INTEL SSDSA2M160G2GC for about 14 months and have noticed no major degrade in performance.

The drives are well worth the money in my opinion.

Same here. I'm sure you can find some when running benchmarks but in real use I've noticed no difference. My MBP still starts in roughly 15 seconds and apps start near-instantly.
