Do you guys think metal is active in the Ui? If how how can we tell?

My guess is yes, but things may not be optimized just yet. There's certainly no noticeable performance improvement yet when it comes to transitions and using the default apps. When I went back to 8.4 b4, things seemed much smoother and less laggy than iOS 9 b1.

Why would it not be active ? Metal has been active since iOS 8.

Don't confuse metal on iOS with metal on OS X, the latter is happening this year on 10.11.

I see no reason why they wouldn't be running on metal yet. It's not like they would start working on it now. It would have already had to have been worked on for a while so yes.

OP is talking about animations running on metal. Apple said at the keynote they would run on metal now.
