Because I expect absolute perfection from something that costs $200.

$200*

*2 Year minimum contract required.

Try upwards of $700 and up from a lot of us.

That is a complete misstatement of how these phones are developed. Internally the 4 and the 4s are nothing alike, unless having a battery and motherboard are the only things you know about electronics.

Don't mislead people if you know nothing about hardware.

So far that has been the case. The 4 had antenna issues, the 4S resolved a lot of that. Whatever flaws come with the first gen, the second fixes for the most part and that's no surprise.

That is not what that poster claimed. Anyone who thinks that internally the 4 and the 4S are the same doesn't know a damn thing about what goes into hardware. Different processor (meaning right out of the gate a complete reworking of the PCB), different camera (again, massive amount of tweaking from apple), etc.

Even the attenuation issues were fixed WITH DIFFERENT HARDWARE.

Its not a case of prototype and refine, its completely different other than the external shell every. single. generation.

Outside of the US, the iPhone can cost significantly more than US$200.

Take Apple's online store in the UK, for example:
iPhone 5
From £529

That's starting at US$854, .. for the "cheap" 16GB model.

Yeah, sure, their monthly plans are insanely cheaper than here in the US, but still, if you drop $800+ on a phone, your expectations might be a little different.

The issues you read about here are an overwhelming minority in comparison to all of the people who have no issues.

I read somewhere recently that the UK has the most competitive mobile phone market in the world.

Certainly monthly contracts are super cheap here compared to everywhere else in Europe that I've lived (My iPhone 5 contract £47 per month ($75USD approx), the phone was "free", and for that I get unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 2GB of data), but everything's relative.

The contract is 2 years locked in and essentially as my network owns its infrastructure, I'm probably paying in reality about £700 for the phone over those 2 years that I could buy without contract from Apple for £529. Still not a bad deal though!

Having sold my 4S before the 5 hit to try the Nokia Lumia 800 and then the htc Titan and then promptly selling them with in weeks only to buy a used 4, the 5 can't arrive soon enough.

I'm a realist. I understand mass production problems with such a complicated device.

I've had every iPhone since the 3G and have never seen so many different complaints.

But who am I kidding there is no other phone I'd rather have, I guess I'll just cross that bridge if I need to.

It does make me feel better to know that there are many people with flawless phone.

Just thinking back to having to exchange 3 4S's doesn't fill me with joy.

Just wish Apple would open a store here in Ireland already. I travelled to Belfast for the launch of the 4 and 4S but its a three hour round trip at the very minimum. Not something I'm willing to do to exchange a faulty phone.

You should stop posting your fantasies to ppl writing negative opinions. I'm currently usin' "some" iPads and macbooks and I've iPhone 4S. It doesn't mean I'm against Apple that I registered days ago. My negative posts can help Apple to make better products not your fanboy messages. You want better devices? so stop this BS about new members...

Not fantasies, Im posting my personal experience.
All you're here to do is stirr up drama and make up bs stories. All 10-15 of your posts are the same.
Dont worry, keep it up and you wont be around for too long.

Sometimes I think people exaggerate their issues on here.

It gets ridiculous at what some people nitpick!

There's a lot of odd people out there;)

Put some dings in it, bring it back, and keep doing this 4 - 5 times. Some folks on other threads keep doing this, and they seem to like it.

Ah, thanks! I have this iPhone purchasing thing all wrong! Damn Apple for selling me a pristine iPhone!

I think I have to now go ask Siri if "delivered a pupp" is a colloquialism somewhere.

I bet my username is making you sad. Probably you can't sleep thinkin' that I'm having fun with these iPhone5 problems. I can advise you prozac, that's all I can do. People free to post their own opinions and what your braind does you is not healty. Go and have a life. This is just a company makin products to EARN MONEY. They are not tryin' to change the world as they say... We use their product, love or hate it that's the case. I love my 4S and hate iPhone 5 this doesn't make me Apple hater.

What with:

Scuffs out of the box

Loose battery

Gaps around the screen

Glitchy display

Flexing display

And other problems I don't even know about.

I'm wondering if I should just cancel my order that is 4-5 weeks out and stick to my iPhone 4?

Having no Apple store in Ireland makes it a real PITA if there is a problem with the phone.

Not a pup. But what the pup leaves behind that the owner must clean up.

Personally, I'm waiting a bit. After the light blotches experience with the iPad 2 I don't have time to play the return game. It sucks. FWIW my iPad 3 was perfect on delivery & my iPhone 4 still is. I really want LTE & that camera though.
