I'm still rocking Catalina because there is absolutely zero reason to upgrade. If it ain't broke....

Still not as fast as my M1 Macbook air.

My advice is don't install Big Sur ! It is slower than Catalina.

I regret some months ago, taking the decision to upgrade :(

My previous laptop, a 2013 MBP 15" feels as fast (if not more), as my current 16" MBP !

I'm completely disappointed with my 16" MBP performance !

Big Sur is slower in some parts and slightly faster in other parts.
I wouldn't upgrade for the sake of performance.
My main gripe with Big Sur is a) the UI and b) the massive amount of bugs.

If you don't "have to" upgrade because of software support, then I would advise to stay with Catalina for a while. This is also what I do. Big Sur wastes too much space with big borders and rounded corners in my eyes.
