I’m using a MacBook Pro M4 Max with 64 GB RAM and have run Final Cut Pro for video renders for a year without any problems. Over the past two or three days, however, the app has become increasingly unstable.

- Rendering a typical 20‑minute video now takes 15–20 minutes, whereas it used to finish in two or three minutes.
- Drag‑and‑drop no longer works reliably.
- Fonts constantly shuffle and change weight.
- Overall performance feels noticeably slower, and numerous bugs appear.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Final Cut Pro on macOS 26.4?

Without knowing even the first thing about your projects and what your editing or outputting, let alone the version of FC nor macOS, there is absolutely nothing one could reliably say about anything you describe.

The first and only thing that comes to mind – which, again, given no information is pure speculation – is that your internal disc has filled up beyond the minimum 20 to 30% of free space required to ensure clean memory swap etc.

Or something third-party has been installed recently. No clue. Literally.

I am facing similar problems with my macbook pro m4 pro after updating to 26.4. My primary problems are font weight changes and overall fcp slowed down. Every font goes back to regular weight after changing to bold or black or any weight.

I’m facing these same issues too! Not sure what’s going on. It’s been stopping my workflow tremendously

This seems to be a common problem with many FCP users. I opened a ticket with Apple and they said their technical team is working on a solution. Currently, the only work around is - when you add a title and change the weight, just change the alignment or vertical alignment and change it back - the font size gets fixed.

Hope this helps.
