Has having a phablet satiated a need for a tablet?

For me personally, no. If I want to read fanfics I have to use a tablet disguised as a kindle. I'm hoping to get a fat case.

However it's fine apart from that.

    Well I had a nexus 5 and a nexus 7. A nexus 6 would eliminate a tablet

Nope - still have an Air 2 that gets plenty of use.

Though the 6+ did allow me to sell my rMini and upgrade to the Air 2.

Not for me. Larger screen is better but not a substitute. In the same way, a tablet is nit a substitute for a laptop, at least for me.

Eliminated my need for a small tablet. I passed on my iPad Mini to my wife but still use my iPad Air regularly and will likely upgrade it to the larger iPad 'Pro' if it offers additional functionality that will take advantage of the extra screen real estate.

Soon as the phone hits 5-6" I think so. Currently using a Note 3 (5.7") and have no desire for a tablet. Screen is great for YouTube or movie on the go. Surfing the Web is much nicer also. Went from 4.7" to 5.1 to 5.7. Still compact enough while doing double duty as a phone and tablet.

    Just my 2 cents

Not for me, but I own way too many phones/tablets to be considered a reasonable gauge as to whether phablets eliminate the need for tablets for the average person. Probably most of us are exceptions rather than the rule when it comes to this question.

For me, buying a tablet satiated the need for a phablet.

This. If I had a tablet that was around 12" with a stylus, I would use it. Even 10".

Phablets replace the need for a small tablet like others have said.

Phablets are already getting to 7-inch territory started by the Asus Fonepad of last year. Once phablets get bigger, it will REPLACE tablets in general since people want the phone functionality too and not a giant media player that only is good to consume media.

Tablets were always a fad to me like portable media players and mp3 players in the previous decade. Eventually iPhones replaced iPods as we see Apple rarely even updating their iPod lineup these days. And smartphones eventually replaced many portable media players and mp3 players. Phablets will do the same to the tablets without phone functionality.

Galaxy Note and Surface Pro 3 have replaced my Android and iPad tablets.

    Interesting question.

I have to say (and I didn't expect to say it), no.

Where having a phablet has eliminated my constant need to run up to a larger screen device to check something (phone is always handy), when it comes down to sitting down for a while and reading or consuming media, I will go for the tablet. If it's for short duration surfing or research it substitutes quite nicely.

I recently bought my mom an iP5S and I gotta tell you, Apple got it right for portability on those models. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Note 4, however sometimes just popping that bad boy into a pocket would relieve so much issue of pocket size or taking a purse with me wherever I go just to take the phone with me.

I have no need for a tablet. My 5.5" iPhone 6 Plus is fine for me. I never really watched movies on the phone in the past but it was surprisedly good on my iPhone this time around.

5.5" screen has, for me, made a smaller tablet size irrelevant.

Interested in the Nexus 6 as my next phone.

No but it has greatly reduced the use of one. I have an iPad air and must say that for extended web surfing it's still a go-to device. However, on smaller phones I never used my phone to surf because it was just too awkward. Now I do use my Note 3 for web and researching/looking up things far more than before.

Overall, I do use an iPad Air but not really that much.

Absolutely, I leave my tablet at home now. I have a surface pro 3 for when I need a "full" size tablet, but I dont feel the need to carry it around unless I need to get serious work done. A phablet certainly takes away the need for a smaller 7-8" tablet.

Not really, I love my 6+, but I feel the screen is still a bit small for my tablet needs. Im considering getting the iPad Air 2 and trading in my 6+ for a 6 (or even use my 5S again)

Has having a phablet satiated a need for a tablet?

I have a Note 3 and I ended up not using it as a phone or tablet. The size is just too awkward for a phone but too small for a productive tablet.

It has it's place but it's kind of an odd niche comprised of music, pictures, and flash player use.

What are the "productive" stuff you can do on a tablet that you can't do on a phablet? I can't think of any.

If I need a tablet size screen to be productive then I might just as well use my laptop. Both are unwieldy.

My books and manga. I guess I should rephrase productivity to luxury. The bigger iPad Mini screen is perfect for reading. Netflix is great on it too.

A bigger phone is still just a tiny bit too small (to me) for those things. Yet I like my phone to be smaller since I've got tiny hands.

I have a note 4 and 13in MBA so I don't see any point in having a tablet. Outside of the surface tablets are useless for productivity and my note is more than good enough for consuming media.
