I've mentioned a couple of these issues before but I'm going to consolidate them into a single thread to see if ANYONE feels my pain. I was excited to receive my 6S Plus for Christmas 2015 after the great experience I had with my 3GS and iPhone 5. I was a MASSIVE iPhone fan, to the point of taking em out of the case whenever safe because they just looked so great to me.

After updating my 6S Plus from 9 (where the warm fuzzy feelings were strong as ever) to 10x it's been a nightmare. BRU-TAL. I hate it. I've been given an unheard of 3 replacements so now I guess I just have software issues which I'll include below.

First issue - my phone treats going to the home screen using 3D Touch and tapping as a downward swipe about 1/4 of the time:

Second, when I restart my phone, for instance to fix a bug, Call Forwarding is falsely indicated as on when it's not. I have to open its menu to remind the phone it's disabled:

Third video, BY FAR the most annoying, is text randomly disappearing during quick replies. In this example, when I hit the P key, POOF:

Lastly, graphical weirdness. On its own it would just be annoying but its frequency, coupled with the above, means it's fuel on the fire. For one, the battery icon slides over and sticks by the timer control when I swipe to bring up camera from the lock screen and in the second a half drawn calculator :

I'd say you are ready for ios11...certainly can't be worse than what you've seen w/ios10.

I'm still on iOS 9.0.2 primarily because it's jailbroken. But the features of ios10 are uninteresting to me anyway...more iMessage emoticons are the last thing I need.

I could stay with ios9 for the life of this phone (6s).

And I WISH I'd stayed with iOS 9. My issue with iOS 11 is I'll lose use of a couple of 32 Bit apps I like, at least if I understand it correctly. I seem to be about the only person on the planet having these issues, which makes it worse. You're correct though, I might upgrade to 11 anyway since at this point I've got nothing that would make me detest this thing more than I do. Maybe before Apple stops signing whatever the last 10.x is I'll try it out. My fear is it might not be optimized until a few versions, by that time I'll lose the ability to downgrade to 10. They sure have a grip on a device that I paid for. This thing cost 4 figures, none of my issues should happen as often as they do, if at all.

I have. In desperation I went a few days without anything but stock apps, no music even, on a set up as new restore, I even created a new Apple ID as a test. Once of the first texts I replied to vanished mid composition. Apple first replaced the screen in my original 6S Plus, then eventually replaced it altogether. That second phone was replaced, and that replacement was replaced with my current replacement. So I've had 3 altogether since 10's release, all with the same (presumably software, surely!) issues. All set up as new. A month or so ago I submitted a bug report on the to Apple text thing, made sure they knew I can reproduce it, but haven't had a reply to date.

That's bizarre!

Sure is. Lord I wish someone else here had seen this stuff. At least then I could hold out some hope it might be a common issue that might grab Apple's attention. But yeah, bizarre, and I feel like I'm painted into a corner with it. I've never been hit by lightning or anything but the text and downward swipe bugs (the only two that really make me see red) seem to be limited to me unless someone can give one or both a try. Heck one of my coworkers is on a 7 Plus and he's floored by this stuff. He's never seen either of my two major issues with texting and launching apps, both of which I do a lot of as you'd imagine.

You and TH55 could swap stories.

He's on ios10 also and posted some weird behavior stories (but mild ones...unlike yours) and I wrote back telling him to either wipe and restore (and give up his jailbreak) or put up with all the little bugs he claims he sees.

So what is Apple's stance on your problem currently?

Ah, hopefully he'll happen by this thread then. Thanks for that.

As far as Apple's stance, I guess I could use some input/advice there. I have a feeling I could book an appointment this weekend and probably get a replacement phone. That's what's been happening so far, but I don't think a replacement phone will solve my issue. I would assume they assume the issue is closed since I haven't yet been back. The Geniuses here have been great so far, but then I did walk in with a mint device showing insane issues. I feel like I should have asked for the oldest device they have in stock last time, just in case it was running 9x, but I don't know how fast stock goes through the store or if that's a request they'd allow. I just now thought of maybe trying a chat, a rep there might have a vastly larger stock to choose from, but again that's moot if they don't allow customers to ask for old devices. I'd sell an arm for a new in box 9.3.5 6S Plus.

Off the top of my head, I'd ask if they could dig up a replacement on 9.3.x...couldn't hurt.

The replacements all had the same problems too (across the phones) or different ones with different phones?

Hahaha amen to that. Bonkers huh? I'd be in a straight jacket by now if I didn't at least have videos to share. Launching apps and texting are two things I do a lot of on this thing and both are messed up with no recourse to be found.

I'd definitely head back...say hey, what's going on and what haven't they tried?

And since they've tried the replacement route several times to no avail...can they possibly find a 6s+ w/iOS 9.3.x

Good idea. I might have to do that. Might try chat first (I think that's an option) for convenience's sake.

And yes each replacement has acted the same.

I have experienced the same issue with quick reply disappearing mid message. It happens on my iPhone 5S and is very frustrating. It hasn't happened in a little while but I stopped using it as often as I used to because it was so annoying.

I find it strange how people can have problems like the original poster. Yet I have without even thinking done every update my iPhone 5 has ever asked for since new to this day and never had a single issue at all.

Yeah, those are not regular issues. Have you tried reinstalling from scratch to see if the problems continue? It may be somthing corrupt with the OS.

Looks like someone else has the Quick Reply issue.

Yes I've tried reinstalling, but beyond that I've been given new phones which I've set up as new.

It's Friday here so this evening I'll try Apple's chat. Thanks for the replies everyone!

Without doubt, the one iOS 10 issue that blights my iPhone experience since iOS 10 was introduced is that my iPhone consistently "forgets" what has been playing in the music app.

I play music a lot on my iPhone, as I spend over an hour commuting on trains it keeps me sane.

I keep a large number of varied playlists and like to listen to the playlist in sequence. Consistently at least once every other day (sometimes more frequently) the iPhone will forget I was playing anything and go back to a state as though I've just opened the music app. I switched to Cesium, and whilst it's better (and Cesium is an infinitely better music app) the issue remains.

It's maddening.

Thirty years ago I had a Sony Walkman and when I put that down, the next time I picked it up and pressed "play", it always resumed where I'd left it.

Why an iPhone cannot do this, I do not know, but it broke in iOS 10 and it makes the iPhone useless as a music player.
