I have a a 2018 Ipad pro installed 13.5 now will not charge and just keeps flashing the battery icon when plugged in. Tried different cables charges hard reset soft reset. Unfortunately it's out of warranty so I have to send it in hopefully its not the full 499 price.

No problems here. Did you try a DFU restore?

iPadOS 13.5 didn't brick my 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Yes I did DFU restore. The apple did come up looked like it was doing something but keep getting the battery flickering in the middle. Must be a battery issue.

Do you have a different charger & cable available to eliminate those as part of the problem, i.e. the battery is fine but the charging end isn't working?

10.5 Pro here. The previous update did something that caused the iPad to shutdown every three minutes or so. I was so happy to hear that 13.5 was available. Managed to perform a DFU restore and upgrade. No change. Almost to the second, every three minutes iPad crashes and reboots. The analytics reports are littered with kernel panics (full), stacks+thermal monitord reports and others. Up until the last two updates this iPad has been working like a dream, now it’s just an expensive paperweight, unless whatever I want to do can be done in under three minutes. P’d off is an understatement.

Yes, here in Florida thankfully my Apple store is open with social distancing. I backed up my 2018 iPad Pro which is long in the tooth now, I have no warranty and no applcare, I updated to iOS 13.5 and the display was half freezing not restarting freezing, I took it for a free “Diagnostics“ they determined it was corrupted by an iOS Update and since I was out of warranty it would costs $500+ but without me asking the tech asked a superior and authorized as courtesy replacement. In 15 minutes I had a “new” 2018 64GB IPad Pro. The battery has like 2 Cycles on it from the factory. Fresh lithium. My 2018 had over 1,000 cycles. They are extra generous now with the Pandemic and go out of their way to help.

All my stores are closed. I'm sending mine in I payed like 563 but if they may lower depending what is wrong. I have a feeling not going to a store they are not going to just send me a new one for free.

Yes I did all that. Did a DFU mode and got excited because the apple logo came up and then just went back to the battery in the middle going on and off.

Updated to 13.5 on my second generation 12.9 and can say that there’s no issues to report.

Take a look at the charge port. Does it look like there’s any debris in there? Sometimes a bit of debris gets in there, then jammed in really far and compacts like stone from the cord being plugged in. If so, you can use a really thin set of tweezers to carefully clean it out, and then spray it with some compressed air. You may have to scrape it out, so be very very careful that you don’t damage the port itself.

If that doesn’t fix it, then you’ve done everything you can on your end. The only other thing it could be is damage to the port, a bad battery, or a motherboard issue. All of which unfortunately you’d have to take to Apple.

The fact that it started after an update and a DFU isn’t working makes me think it’s probably the battery or motherboard, but hopefully cleaning the port fixes it for you.

Since I upgraded to 13.5, my 2018 12.9 ipad had been draining batter when it is powered down. I opened a ticket last night with Apple. They ran a diagnostic test and saw nothing wrong with the ipad and agreed it may be an ios issue. Battery drained 35% in 20 hours or so that it was shut off. I may have to go back to 13.4.1

I would hurry, they might stop signing that version this week

I'm having this same exact problem and I have an iPad Pro 11".

How do I downgrade to 13.4??

Grab the IPSW from a site you trust, and through iTunes/finder, restore the device using that IPSW file, holding the alt key. Sorry I can’t explain it better, I advise you to do your research on the internet, you’ll find a better answer there (or here in the forums)

On a side note, if several people are experiencing issues with this last update, I think I won’t update for a long time... It is a pity, as my Solo Pro volume controls don’t work properly on 13.3.1

In your case, I would wait a few days to see if it stabilizes because, you know, after an update there is a several days period were the system has more background activity.

My iPad pro 10.5 doesn't charge after a while, after updating to ipados 13.5
If I force restart than it shows a lower battery than the one that was before I restarted
After it works, charges but then after few hours I'm back to the same issue
With 13.4 wasn't doing that
On Reddit there are many others complaining about the same battery issue !
and an other one

If you go on youtube there is a video
Filed a complaint to Apple

I had exactly the same issue. Returned it to Apple and they replaced it immediately.

I guess you are still under warranty , mine expired yesterday sigh😟
I was hoping that 13.5.1 would fix the battery issue but it didn't
