Hi, I recently received my 11 inch pro and I have actually loved it, including the new pencil which feels awesome.

Regarding the Smart Folio, I’ve been surprised, after reading a lot of criticism especially on this forum I thought I would hate it, instead I really like how thin the new keyboard is and also how it works with magnets. What I don't like is that I miss the old vertical position which hid the keyboard behind which I used a lot and the fact that the keys are exposed when using it on tablet mode. Still, I have liked it very much and for me it’s the best combination for the iPad.

My only concern is: has anyone of you experienced any superficial scratches on the screen? The keyboard material isn't the softest, and it is constantly touching with the screen, additionally I am using the old Apple leather cover where the iPad is really tight inside so I am worried my screen is going to get scratched in the future. I hate scratched screens and I resale value really decreases. I would usually just put a glass screen protectors, but I have read mainly on this forums that many screens are having problems with those. So I would love to hear your experience.

Thanks

I walk three miles a day (roundtrip to/from work) with the iPad Pro 11/Smart Folio in a messenger bag over my shoulder. No scratches so far.

The keyboard is fabric and on the hardness scale, the glass screen would do more damage than the keyboard

Same with any microfiber, alcantara or other fabric covers, you need to be sure there is no debris present when you stash it away. Had the same thing happen to my 9.7, now I habitually wipe mine off with a cloth before I stash it away.

I usually keep both things pretty clean, so I guess I shouldn't worry then. Thanks all

A clean keyboard will absolutely not scratch your screen, its the potential issue of a hard particle getting between the keyboard and screen that will scratch it. Yes the screens have some degree of toughness to them, but I tend to lean towards "I want mine factory new" which means even "micro" scratches into the smudge coating would be a problem.

Clean your screen with a clean microfiber and wipe keyboard regularly. I also installed a glass screen protector on mine because I do not want to have to even think about it.

The keyboard is definitely a lot softer than the Apple Pencil that I’m dragging across the screen for hours every day.

Good question and positive responses. Makes me feel better. Just to piggyback on this question, for the majority of those saying there’s been no damage to iPad screen, what about damage, wear, fading, etc to the keyboard from it being in the flipped around back and exposed in the “tablet use” position Thanks!

I just got back from picking up the keyboard. The thing I love about the new cases is that it’s so easy to remove the case and go naked on the couch, in bed, or on a plane. That, to me, makes it a non-issue. I just don’t see why I would ever not remove the iPad if I’m not using the keyboard. I have the folio also and I take that off when using it in bed and on the couch. I’ll probably use the folio more often than the keyboard folio.

I love the way it types. Never thought I would use a keyboard case, but I love this new one. So much better than the previous ones, which were ugly and not as sleek.
