Curious how many owners have reduced laptop or tablet usage because of AVP? And to clarify the laptop part I mean, sitting in front of the laptop traditionally ?

I saw this question asked on a different website and I’m curious to get everyone’s answer.

For me, I have always been an iPad Pro user it was always attached to my wrist as I walked around the house multitasking all the time but since getting myAVP it is taken over my iPad usage at home completely. Please answer below. Would love to hear your answers.

Yes, the Vision Pro has largely replaced my iPad Pro usage and some of my Mac usage. Before the Vision Pro, the iPad Pro had largely replaced my laptop usage. I got the 13” M4 iPad Pro when it was released, but I rarely use it now because it’s more fun to use the Vision Pro unless I’m sitting at my desk doing intensive work on my Mac.

iPhone Air has also eaten into my iPad usage, because it’s so easy to pick up and comfortable to hold in hand and has a big enough screen for reading, shopping and even doing some light work or watching shows. I’ll tend to use the Air for any quick or light tasks at home, while the Vision Pro when I want a more immersive experience except for heavy office work that requires the Mac + my Pro Display XDR.

I have a Meta Quest Headset and use it alot daily for work and play. My iPad is used when I am out or at the Office. AR glasses are the future.

Its really only replaced TVs and Projectors for me. If I want to watch a movie on a big screen now I just use AVP.

It's replaced a lot of money in many people's bank accounts 😉

Sadly unlike the money in the bank account which grows in value, albeit very slowly, the value of the Vision Pro has dropped dramatically.

Perhaps something like Buy for $4000 and a year later sell for $2000

Why would you think of a device as a potential financial investment first and foremost? They're tools, and a tool's main value is in how useful it is. If you're only concerned about how much you can sell a tool for, then it's almost certainly not intended for you.

Then again is something is deemed a success and people want it, such items hold value, or at least drop very little as demand is always there.
If a product, it a failure, and it's seen as such, new buyer don't want it, and those who own such a product don't use it much either, the whole market for the product dies, and you lose half it's value in 12 months.

What in the world does a user care about all this?
This is a weird obsession for some people in these forums who live and die on the hill of which products are mass sellers and which aren't. What normal person would care so much about this? The VP is a niche market, yes. And?

I also have a Meta quest 3 and I used it for everything, but then I realized that you can only do three small things at a time and if you were trying to mirror your Mac or PC with remote desktop, it would crash a lot or the display would disappear and go transparent that’s when I realized I needed more power and I started looking into secondhand M2, Apple vision pros I will have been using it for three months in just a few days best investment I’ve made this year and an Apple product and started running the Developer beta two love the changes from 26 to 27

Same. I look forward to getting more time to play with it and potentially expand usage, but for the time being it's a lie-down-and-chill immersive video player.

It's replaced most digital entertainment.

I never use my gaming PC at my desk anymore, I stream it to my AVP on my couch or in bed. (So I guess thats only 1/2 a replacement)

It has replaced my iPad, in fact the iPad probably been dead for weeks, who knows?

I almost never use my laptop in the evening for entertainment purposes anymore, I still use the laptop for work however.

But for watching a ballgame (or anything I want to watch) while the girlfriend is watching TV, or playing video games, watching YouTube, it's 100% my go to device now. In fact I use it for hours every day.

So if I am at home and consuming digital entertainment chances are very high it's on my AVP. And a lot of the time im doing multiple of these. Ive definitely played a game, while having the ballgame playing in the background and been listening to a Youtube Video.

When I use a hammer everything is a nail. If you want to replace something then get on with that. That replace mentality is not something that makes sense to me , it is another tool that has positive benefits in some use cases but get over the universal concept of replacement. Don’t be a tool of a tool.

I haven’t turned on my gaming PC since I moved back in December I have used my PS5 and my switch. I was pushing them into my quest three using the remote app and a capture card on the Mac mini but now I just use the capture card from my Mac mini into my AVP I don’t use my iPad at home only at work and if I use a keyboard on the AVP otherwise I use eye tracking to consume any content. If I’m alone, I use the AVP otherwise I use my phone. I can’t believe I’ve had my AVP for three months. Is definitely my favorite piece of technology for 2026.
