Has the iPhone always been able to view PDF files....

    Nope, it's been able to view them since the very first version of the firmware.

    Early in v1 iPhone you could email yourself the PDF document, then download it, then view it...

    I just found out a few days ago that it can view .ppt powerpoint slideshows too. :D Very neat.

    Wasn't viewing a PDF on one of the early iphone commercials?
