Every single thing lately in the news seems to be blown way out of proportion. I mean everything single thing seems to trigger a knee jerk response and drama in the streets.

Honestly I don’t care about the battery issue as I get a new phone every year and even if I didn’t I would just replace the battery.

At the end of the day it’s just a phone.

Admire your Apple enthusiasm.

"The iPhone's reported 92 percent retention rate compares to Samsung's 77 percent, LG's 59 percent, Motorola's 56 percent and Nokia's 42 percent. For Apple, the number is up from 86 percent during the same time last year".

"Apple has brand loyalty that most companies can only dream of".

How can you argue with that?

[doublepost=1515292743][/doublepost]

I suspect there are many people who never look past the Apple ecosystem. Not that surprising to me.
I’ve looked past it and I’ve been out of the ecosystem. I stay because it offers me more than the competing ecosystems do.

It can be argued of such when you display it as a badge in your signature and/or maybe even list what you paid for it. I mean, who cares if you bought an X or how much you paid for it? Apparently, others should.

And what I have noticed in reading these and other threads is that those with X are very reactive to any negative Apple news, verses those with older models. Some people in my other forum calls iPhone X a 'luxury' item. I disagree, but to them, it is a very personal thing. Much more than 'just a phone'. A phone doesn't cost $999.

I would say it’s a luxury item just like Yeezys, bang and olufsen speakers and headphones and other things.

Do you really think the average user has the ability to make that decision on their own and know what the impacts of such a decision are?

yep, just let user choose o_O. user chooses, device melts/blows up/splits in two...user screams on forum—“Apple evil for letting me choose.”

choose now, sues later.

Any phone that costs more than £300 is a luxury. £300 smartphones can do most things that people need.

I respectfully disagree in regards to the quality and feature set. That’s essentially saying a 300.00 computer is a luxury item and can do things most people need.

Try running Photoshop or anything other powerful app on a computer that cheap and it will choke.

What do most people do on a phone, make calls, send messages, go on the net, take pictures and use apps. £300 smartphones can do all of that.

A computer is a different ball game because some people have high end needs and require powerful software.

Most do the same basic things on a smartphone. Sure the camera on a flagship might be somewhat better but they all do the same basic things pretty well.

Woke up this morning, only 2 threads on Page 1 of the forum are talking about the phony 'scandal'. As we enter Week 3, predictably, this non-event is fading into the dustbin of phony 'scandals' faster than Antennagate.
[doublepost=1515332109][/doublepost]
It was gaint table with projectors and sensor that mounted on the table. People can manipulate items on the table. Including swipe, moving imagine around. The whole thing about Apple created touchscreen and touch interface was dumb.

Android copied iOS. Icon arrangement, home button, touch UI, all of it. And you should be happy with your Hogwei or whatever it's called. No need to worry about Apple anymore.
[doublepost=1515332403][/doublepost]
has Apple stopped throttling perfectly good (by their own tests) phones yet? no? Not enough outrage.

The reason you don't sense "enough outrage" is because no one is outraged. In the grand scheme of things, no one cares about a few milliseconds of delay on a smartphone. They're more concerned with why they have one bar of LTE or can't connect to wi-fi, more worried about why the cat video on Facebook isn't streaming smoothly and why Google is taking so long to return the right search result. "Speed" on a mobile device isn't measured by processor metrics; it's determined by real-world usage. Mobile carriers and the internet are the typical users problem when it comes to "speed".

Outrage. Yeah, right. Apple has always power managed the iPhone. They know what's best for us.

Apple also copied Android. World is shaking right?

From Notification sheet, to rise to wake, from Notification widgets to FaceID. When iMeeeage announced, it waful like Blackberry Messengers. When Apple added calibration feature on the note, if waful like Google Keep. When Apple add Love Photo, it waful like Google's Motion Still. Split screen app likes Android multitaksing features. I can have the list pretty long.

Apple is in core a copycat.

Again... Seems to me and it is pretty obvious, people get upset when someone made decision for them and without their consent. I know it is good for you to save some money. So I will just create investment account and invest your money in stock for you. Sounds good?

Motion stills came after Live Photo’s.

Android is a shameless copy of iOS. Android took what Apple introduced in 2007, copied it, and made it cheaper. They are an Apple knock-off, nothing more.

I don't make cars. I make travel plans. I let the experts at BMW make technical decisions on the performance of my vehicles. I make my own decisions where I travel to. The end result is a luxurious experience where I arrive at interesting destinations without giving much thought to the engineering of my car.

I am not an investor. I just make money. I let my expert financial advisor make the technical decisions on the performance of my portfolio. I decide how to spend my money. The end result is a net worth in excess of $15M where I only concern myself with my career and give very little thought to the engineering of my portfolio.

If you like to tinker with your products that's great. You should know by now that Apple is not that kind of company. If you want to get under the hood and mod your car, have fun with your knockoff Android. Apple is the luxury experience for those of us who have better things to do with our time than worry about how our refrigerator is performing.

If someone doing something on by behalf, i'd make sure he/she gets my consent. I think that is common sense.

LOL... Other high profile lawsuit against Apple. This time a big consumer right lawfirm decided to sue Apple.

Let us keep this party going. More and more lawsuit will be filled. Hope Apple learns the lesson.

This lawfirm successfully sued Apple for G4 price fixing and won 450 millions. Hope this time they win even bigger!

Which, after realizing that some people would like to have that decision for themselves, is EXACTLY what they are planning for in an iOS update.
[doublepost=1515241099][/doublepost]
They are doing that. Look for it in an upcoming iOS Update
[doublepost=1515241555][/doublepost]
Prove it.
[doublepost=1515242172][/doublepost]
My 6 Plus (received in November, 2014) opens Mail in less time than my finger takes to get out of the way of the screen. And that's with THREE mail accounts (two of them, Office365 and Gmail) are IMAP, which is far more "chatty" than POP3, and I NEVER delete incoming emails; so, I don't know what your problem is; but it doesn't comport to my experience.

You have CONTINUOUSLY asserted these alleged "FACTS" in post after post, and yet, not ONE screenshot, not ONE scintilla of actual EVIDENCE to back up your claims.

Why?

So get out your copy of XCode and write your OWN OS.

Nor with you.

Ok, so what easy way is there to post a screen shot here, I mean next you’ll probably accuse me of editing the results, or you’ll want proof I actually own an iPhone, that’s where these things usually lead to, but go on tell me how to share the screenshots or have I got to go and sign up to a service just which I’m not doing?
I can’t upload photos to this site from an iOS device from what I can see.

You can. Click on "Upload a file" -> select the photo or screenshot you want -> then click "Thumbnail" or "Full Image" depending on the size of the picture you want :)

Price fixing is illegal, what laws did Apple break in this situation? You gave consent by agreeing to the ULA when you did the update. You do realize anyone can file a lawsuit. Winning one is a different story.

Thanks HAL, right these are my results with my battery nearly flat, interesting thing is it is at 20% in the First screenshots then I restarted my phone before running Geekbench and it dropped down to 7% hmm

I’ll do the same again later on when my phones fully charged.

I start my BMW, I get a message that says I need service, I get a call from the BMW concierge. I bring the car in, I get a complimentary croissant and a cappuccino, they give me a courtesy ride back to the office. Later that day, I'm in my car, and the service message is gone. What the BMW techs have done to the car I do not know nor do I care. The car is on the road and that's that.

Oh no, not $450 MILLION! Let's see, Apple has a value of $750 BILLION, so that lawsuit hit Apple to the tune of 0.06% of their net worth! Ahhhh! Noooo!

For reference, that's like someone winning a lawsuit against you for a pack of gum.

Actually no you did not agree to Apple throttling your iPhone in the EULA because they never once stated in the EULA they were doing it! They don’t have a leg to stand on in this regard.

Technically, $300 computers are sufficiently advanced nowadays that they can do things most people need (office apps, web browsing, video streaming, social media, etc). Heck, there are plenty of folks whose needs are met by a $100-200 Chromebook.

There's a reason Android is so popular. They cover the entire range of the price spectrum. You can be sure that there are more sub-$300 devices sold in aggregate than there are flagships.

Here's why:

Apple's demographic are people who can afford a new phone every 2 years and thus we never have slow phones. Those who are complaining are looking for the tooth fairy, a phone that can last 5 years without a slowdown. It's not happening.

It's not Apple being manipulative. It's Craigslist types being unrealistic. And looking for a handout. And acting entitled. And looking to this forum as a safe space.

-You're suggesting it's fine because their customers can afford it.
-You make a grossly exaggerated and unrealistic analogy about expectations to solidify your position
-You defend Apples intentions
-You attack the character of those who disagree.

Objective facts are not with you.

In the later part of your post that I didn't quote you use the term "anti-humanity". Pot, kettle.

That member is a person who lives a very shallow life because they like to feel special just because of the phone they have.. they think it’s an elitist club to own an iPhone.
They don’t live in the real world where here in the U.K. at least, every man and their dog has an iPhone, it’s far far far far far far from the exclusive realm of rich people...

I just chose to ignore the member, save my sanity!

No, what I said in response to why there is so little outrage is that for those who can afford a new iPhone every 2 years their batteries don't weaken and therefore this phony throttlegate 'scandal' isn't something they concern themselves with.

The analogy is spot-on. I defend Apple in response to a post that defames Apple. I responded to someone who said that Apple is an "evil company" as if there aren't decent men and women working there. All justified, and necessary, responses.

Wrong, you agreed for them to update the software, one of the items of the update was the change. They do not list individual items in the ULA. By agreeing to the update you take it all good or bad. Each feature or change is not taken or agreed to à la carte.

No, what I said in response to why there is so little outrage is that for those who can afford a new iPhone every 2 years their batteries don't weaken and therefore this phony throttlegate 'scandal' isn't something they concern themselves with.

Looks like I missed the party. Time to catch up.

Show proof that everyone with an iPhone upgrades to a new model every two years, or is capable of upgrading every two years. Otherwise, stop naively assuming that everyone lives in a beach house with a trophy wife. A lot of people with an iPhone I see are living in below average conditions. I mean, they can't even afford healthcare.

And last time I checked, until 6, iPhones cost $100 or $200 with phone company contract plans, at least here in the US. Big difference between paying full price and getting a discount. You will see that in the sales report on February. And you can see that on this chart(iPhone 6 came out on 2014):

gIEvNVo.png

The analogy is spot-on. I defend Apple in response to a post that defames Apple. I responded to someone who said that Apple is an "evil company" as if there aren't decent men and women working there. All justified, and necessary, responses.

Of course you defend. As does anyone who spend too much time AND money on an object/ideology/institution. This supports my initial argument that this is not just a phone for these people, it is a personal thing, an investment. The investment is in the company. By making the investment, you want a return, a satisfaction. For some people, this involves bragging about it online. More so for bolt if we are to assume his signature is not a complete lie. You never know what is real and what isn't. I mean, someone people have serious problems with posing/fabricating online. That is just who they are.

You are criticizing posting style. You should focus on content. Make an argument.

Your posting style is nothing different than that of a bully. Reckless, insulting, berating. Have I mentioned deplorable? I mean, who in the world sits all day defending a company every waking hour by demeaning others? I don't think that is normal.

I am only here because of the fraud Apple committed. Throttling people's phone to save the a cheap battery. Doesn't make sense. Why hide it? Why not tell customers of the supposed failing battery? Deceptive, Fraudulent, Breaching Contract.

And I hope they pay, in the court system and with sales. Throttlegate is just starting. Now everyone with a slow or slower phone will think they are being slowed down by Apple, or will be told to that extend by others. And they indeed are being slowed down by Apple one way or another. Because:

Phones do not degrade, except for battery which is replaceable. But Apple introduces software updates with new models in mind, new models which are capable of handling higher demand and have higher CPU. However, a customer with an older phone is unable to make a choice between security/bug fixes and non-essential enhancements features. Therefore, newer and newer software themselves, because of demanding non-essential features introduced and forced, slow down older phones as they require more time to make computations. There is never a choice given between the two for a customer who just want security and bug fixes because of increased hacks/bugs and one's increasing usage of phone as their wallet.

"Privileged" and "shallow" are quite different things.
Some people who are shallow may think they are being judged because of their privilege. This has more to do with delusion than reality.

Okay, that's all for today. I will come back tomorrow. I am already behind on weekend errands.

P.S. Bolt, stop picking on these guys. Pick on someone your own size.

They screwed up. They apologized. They offered a fix. The children whining on this forum need to move on. It’s a phone that you bought at a store, made by a billion dollar company that doesn’t care about you.

An apology doesn't just make everything suddenly okay. The fix is partial but to those who already spend hundreds of dollars they didn't need to, it's no use at all.

You're right Apple doesn't care about their consumers and is all too happy to screw them over though. ;) Doesn't mean people have to accept that.
