I bought an iPhone 3G S 32GB and... there they are... those hairline cracks! My 3 day old phone has cracks around the speaker/mic, and around the vibrate button. Is :apple: ever going to address the issue??

I just exchanged an iPhone 3G for the same cracks last week. He actually questioned it. He hesitated swapping the phone saying that he can't guarantee the cracks wouldn't happen again. It like he knew I wanted a new 3G so I could sell it! lol

my white iphone 3g had cracks... some pretty big and i had dents too... dont know how those happened but i never dropped my phone before and then i just switched my housing for a red one

Just switched to a black 3gs 32gb and I'm afraid to check for cracks cause I'm sure they're there...

But my original 3g had cracks near the volume switch... the sim tray... so I swapped it... a few months later that one had cracks... which i swapped... then in december I swapped again... because of more cracks... that one lasted a few months before cracks started appearing... and I said screw it... and kept it... but now there's dust under the screen... but since its 3gs launch week the appointments are full....

sigh...

I don't mind the cracks.. but dust under the screen...

However, I've reached the conclusion that the treatment of the 'phone is largely to blame. Being stress fractures, care should be taken when inserting/removing plugs. After all, plastic doesn't self-destruct!

My 3G S was in the box for 4 days waiting for the number to be transferred and did indeed self-destruct! Checking it for cracks was the first thing I did, then placed it back in the box to wait for the number transfer. Took it out this morning and lo and behold, 4 cracks.
