Picked up an old Mac Pro 2013 (it works great). Got a UK Layout Logitech MX Keys S keyboard and Mouse to go with it. It can be used with both Mac and PC which is why I chose it. It's paired over Bluetooth - not the dongle. It has a hash key over by the enter key but I just can't get it to produce a hash symbol no matter which of the special keys I hold down?

I've got the keyboard settings set to British and the £ sign works as it should. I've read that you can press option and 3 to get a # symbol (and it does work) but that's a pain in the backside as it's a key I need to use a lot. What do I need to do to get it working correctly please?

Does any character appear when you press the # key so you know it's not faulty?
Did you just pair it or set it properly in Mac mode?
Step 3:
There is an additional combination:
FN+U — swaps ‘#’ and ’A’ with the ‘>’ and ’<’ keys

Assuming the key is not faulty and it still does not work, perhaps it's set up in the wrong layout.
You can force the initialization wizard again with this guide:

The key definitely works - it brings up a variety of symbols - just none of them are the hash symbol lol.

I do know I just paired it like any other Bluetooth device but I'm at work right now so will try out your suggestions tonight. Thanks :)

As far as I could tell 'Mac Mode' did nothing - at least with regards to the hash key anyway.

Fn + U just seemed to swap the two keys circled in the attached photo and had no effect on the hash key I want to use (also circled in a separate photo). I've even installed the 'Logi Options' software to see if it would let me customise the keys but it wouldn't.

That blog post was interesting though and does have a solution in the guise of program called 'Karabiner Option' which basically lets you remap each key to anything you want. I can remap the '\' key to become 'Option + 3' which does the trick... I just need to figure out why it's not saving my configuration as it wipes it every time the software is re-launched or I reboot.

I've primarily been a Windows user until now so am working my way up the learning curve at the moment!

I'd contact Logitech's support.
While I do not own that exact model, you definitely should not have to go through such lengths to get a simple keyboard working.
Perhaps the previous owner coded a custom mapping into the keyboard that you have to reset…

Hopefully Logitech support can help you in that regard or other users chime in. Good luck!

Found a solution that works. Installed a program called BetterTouchTool which let me remap that hash (which was actually producing a backslash) to 'Option + 3' and thus producing a # as I wanted. Runs automatically in the background and survives a reboot. Happy days #######
