13" rMBP

8GB RAM
512GB SSD

Using primarily for marking student's assignments, MS office, reading PDF files, conducting research, and running my side business. Really wanted the retina display as i love the screen. It's just fantastic.

Thought about upgrading the RAM to 16GB but didn't feel the need. It's like i'm a single guy buying a minivan as i may have kids in the future. Who makes decisions like that? I drive a Miata.

Instead of the RAM, i got Apple Care.

Good decision!

8GB RAM and 256GB SSD for me.

Truthfully, it was the least expensive 13" rMBP that came with 8GB of RAM that I could buy from the Apple store, and did not need to be BTO. I would have been happy with the 128GB SSD, but I'm quite impatient. :p Nice to see the significant speed boost going with the 256GB though.

My use will be to replace my Mac Mini as a learning tool to dive into the world of programming, specifically Java, and then later on to Xcode. I'll also do some light web development, image editing, and possibly video editing if a potential side business may take off - fingers crossed.

Here are the results from the original poll which i made yesterday

It seems like the high end 15 inch is the winner
